Warnings of flash floods and wet weather disruption were issued on Tuesday for parts of England as persistent heavy rain was forecast over two days. The Met Office issued a series of yellow wet weather warnings, predicting heavy rains, potential travel disruption and localised flooding, for the East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber and the East of England. Up to 2.76ins (70mm) of rain was expected in the worst-hit areas, including parts of Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and the Humber. The Environment Agency (EA) said the persistent wet weather would bring a risk of low river and surface water floods to parts of the east of England. Source: AFP
