I am once again relistening to tma & screaming about the Web Lighter™️
MAG 14, “Piecemeal”:
“Five years ago, just before we’d been picked up by the police I’d borrowed his lighter. It was a battered old Zippo...After he turned on me in questioning, I didn’t feel much like returning it to the treacherous backstabber, so I held on to it. I hadn’t thought much of it, but here it was, still in the pocket of my jacket, all those years later. I handed it to Angela, and she gave me that look again, and told me that it would work just fine.”
Something which usually goes unnoticed? Which, when the time comes for it to be used, “works just fine” and in the process upends the life of the person who possessed it? Sound familiar? (Jon’s lighter is even described as “an old Zippo” when Tim first asks him about it in “Taken Ill”!)
