She stood back, watching the group she had helped guide and nurture as they came into their own. It was bitter sweet; on the one hand she swelled with pride, and on the other there was sadness as she accepted they would no longer need her hand to hold. She’d seen them grow from seed to a strong sapling, and with a small smile she dipped her head and turned away. Her work here was done, and there were other fields awaiting.
