I am genuinely starting to wonder how some men survive to adulthood.
This evening, my father, a man with multiple degrees and a boatload of life experience, did something I cannot comprehend.
He was making himself a salad and decided to use the chopping knife to cut the plastic around the bottle of dressing. This was a fairly large and very sharp knife which he just started jamming into the plastic, all while a pair of scissors was right there in front of him.
I tell him, "Dad, you know you probably shouldn't do that."
He responds, "Yeah, I probably shouldn't. OW! My hand!"
Like, the timing was that comedically perfect. He grumbled about hurting himself and then asked me to pass him the scissors.
He's done stuff like this before. Stuff he knows he shouldn't do. Stuff I warn him not to do. But he does it regardless and gets hurt.
It wasn't even him dismissing me, he knew perfectly well that what he was doing was stupid.
So, I have to ask, how are men like this even alive?
