37: Is it easier to forgive or forget?

This is so hard to answer haha. It really depends on what means more to you because the payoff is so different though in the end, it’s about freedom.

To forgive demands courage, love and spirit greater than yourself and to embrace it. It frees you and helps you move on.

To forget also frees you in a different way, and it can help you move on too. …but being someone who chooses to forgive in life, choosing to forget worries me with repression and running away because that’s where my values lie. In bearing, honouring and loving.

Though I also understand how in certain situations it’s preferable to forget…and it’s not so easy as saying you want to forgive...

In a way, I would say it’s easier to forgive though it’s the hardest thing in life. I say so because I can never forget, even when I want to. Even when it only serves to hurt and remind me of unkindness, I don’t forget. But I hold each memory with gentleness and I forgive everyday.

And because of that, you can say forgetting is easier because forgiveness takes constant effort and energy and heart. As someone who has made the conscious decision and effort to forgive again, again and again, it can be easy to say that forgetting is easier because you’re choosing to disregard, dismiss and ignore.

Neither is truly easy.

indigo: first pet - 

my first pet was a lhasa apso named max! he was a rescue, and we ended up having to put him down due to a bunch of diseases we didn’t know he had... but my current dog is a shitzhu who we named after him (to honour him or are we just bad at naming we’ll just never know) but she looks a lot like him tbh.
