Mmm, how abouuuut… hron-rad if Old English counts. ‘Eyes at the bottom of the sea’ if not.
Um. 'Whale-road"? Yeah...doing this!
Without research. Without research. Except the translation. Oh well. Ah well. A lot of sighs at this hour.
There's this post. Hmmkay. The whale (road) is too grand to actually write about right away. Perhaps a second post. (But I wanted to do this in case I can get it in before you go to sleep. And then other words. And then maybe this again!)
There's this post. A pretty standard Tumblr post. The Prince of Egypt? They're walking through the Red Sea (even though, I've read, it was actually a reed sea that Moses sloshed through). And next to them is a huge shape. It's not a whale. According (correctly) to Tumblr. The tail goes the wrong way. It's a megalodon shark. The mind takes the image and runs, though.
A whale road cannot be something small, trifling. It's not a plastic tunnel through Sea World. A whale road cannot even be a path one might walk if one was, say, Aqua Man. (And I know, I know, I am staying very un-grand. Perhaps part II…with some research? will be grander.) A whale road is made of memories. Like Ishmael walking through bones. A road made out of whale. Not so crass. A road made out of memories and thoughts as large and incomprehensible as a whale.
Yes. Okay. Right right. That is the road I want to walk down. Someday.
