A/N: PB has officially gone too far and I will not stand for the Ayna slander any more. Our sweet little TA deserves sooooo much better than this. So let's all pretend this takes place in some miraculous AU where PB doesn't hate it's female LI's.
This post is dedicated to the one and only @robintora. Enjoy my queen.
Pairing: Ayna x f!mc
Summary: just read it, its all fluff anyway
Sidenote; I'm just now realising that I've been saying her name as Anya since the very beginning and now I can't stop.
Aarya stares at the ceiling and heaves a sigh. The space beside her in bed is cold and empty, as well as the feeling in her chest. She misses Ayna. She misses her smile and how it lights every room. She misses the smell of her shampoo and the way it fills her every sense every time they hug. She misses the press of her body against hers and how they seem to fit together like two perfect puzzle pieces. She just misses Ayna.
She glances at her side table, the red numbers of her alarm clock glowing in the darkness of her room, and she does her best to ignore the fact that it's just past two o'clock in morning as she reaches for her phone.
She rolls over in bed, pulling the duvet over her head in hopes of drowning out Tatum's soft snores. She knows that after this recent incident, any semblance of a private life she had before, has gone out the window now, never to be seen again. This is as much privacy as she'll be getting from now on, so she might as well make use of it - despite the very real possibility of Tatum waking up and hearing everything.
She dials Ayna's number before she can convince herself otherwise. She needs to hear the other woman's voice, if only to calm her own nerves and give her some peace of mind.
"Aarya? Are you okay?" Her voice is groggy and laden with sleep, and Aarya can't stop the upward curl of her lips at the sound of it.
"Hi." It's all she can manage, not with the way her thoughts race at million miles a minute, each one vying for her attention.
"Are you okay?" She asks again, concern weaving its way between her words. Her smile widens.
"Yeah, m'fine." She stifles a yawn, because really she's not okay. She's tired and angry and scared and nothing in her life makes any real sense any more. Nothing but Ayna.
"Are you sure?" At this Aarya hesitates. She doesn't want to lie to her, not any more than she already has but she doesn't want the other woman to worry about her either. "It's okay if you're not, you know."
"I know." She mumbles. And she really tries to convince herself that she does know, but it's difficult. For the longest time, she's learnt to put her own feelings aside for the sake of her mother's. It's a bad habit of hers, one almost too easy for her to slip into.
"I miss you."
"I miss you too." The words roll off her tongue without a second thought. There are too many things to tell her, that she wishes they were together and cuddled up in bed, that she loves her, that she would be lost without her. But her mouth doesn't move, unable to say all those things at once like she wants.
"We'll be together soon enough. We're all leaving early tomorrow, so we should be back at the university before lunch. We'll get through this."
While the sentiment still floods her chest with warmth, she knows it doesn't mean much. Being together doesn't mean anything if they can't be who they truly are. And yet she dares to ask the question burning on her tongue anyway. "Do you promise?"
A brief moment of silence passes between them and she wonders if that was the right question to ask. She knows the other woman is thinking the same things she is, that they will never truly be free together, not with the way things are now, but neither can stop themselves from hoping. And so when Ayna utters those two words, an easy smile takes its place on her face and she feels lighter than she has in days. Because what's the point in loving someone if you can't relish the feeling bliss they give you whenever they offer you the world.
A/N: I wrote my last prelim exam today and I’ve decided to reward myself with some good old fashioned Ethan Ramsey content. And while I love angst as much as the next person, what I really need after three weeks of hardcore studying and using every last free space of memory in my brain, is as much fluff as I can possibly stomach.
Note: This fic does take place after the events of the recent chapters of OH2 but that’s not what this is about. I need some happiness after all of that.
Summary: Ethan tells MC that he loves her for the first time, but in a not-so-typical manner.
Disclaimer: For the sake of this fic, I’m just going to pretend that Cadbury products are sold in the US. It’s for the best.
Tagging everyone I think would like this: @openheart12 @rookie-ramsey @perriewinklenerdie @kittykatchoices @loveellamae @usuallyamazinglyaverage @drethanramslay @ohramsey

Ethan is unable to keep the smile off of his face as he strides through the hallways of the hospital, his eyes actively searching for Romey behind the frames of his glasses. He glances down at the face of his watch, the minute hand edging nearer to the end of his fourteen hour shift. He feels excitement bloom in his chest at the mere thought of seeing the younger doctor. It’s a feeling he’s not exactly used to, especially in terms of romantic partners, but it’s one he welcomes with open arms.
It hasn’t been long since the two of them began dating in secret, only a month and a half, but with their history, it feels as though it’s been much longer. Ethan can’t even remember the last time he was in a relationship as serious as theirs, but he knows it doesn’t matter. Romey is the one he wants to be with, forever if it were long enough for him. And he wants her to know the true extent of his feelings. He chides himself for not telling her sooner, like when she was on the verge of death two months ago. He was scared then and he’s scared now, but he’s not going to let his fear overtake him this time around.
He finally finds Romey on the second floor, emerging from a patient’s room with a chart in one hand and her phone in the other. His smile widens and he picks up his pace as he makes his way towards her, his stomach in knots. She stands in the center of the hallway, looking intently at her phone. He doesn’t bother himself with wondering what she’s looking at.
“Can I see you for a moment, Rookie?” He asks, appearing at her side as he places his hand on her elbow and continues walking down the hall, pulling her along with him.
“Sure?” She responds as she attempts to keep up with his fast pace. She raises her eyebrows in confusion but she doesn’t question him, following him without hesitation.
He pulls her into the on call room and shuts the door behind him. She furrows her eyebrows at him, a small smile tugging at her lips as she slips her phone into the pocket of her white coat, both hands now holding the chart.
“How may I be off assistance to you, Dr. Ramsey?” She asks as she smiles at him. He smiles back at her as he takes a step towards her, taking the chart from her hands and placing it on a nearby bed. She watches him in amusement and he takes her in his arm, her hands trailing up his chest to settle on his shoulders. Goosebumps rise on his skin at her touch.
Before another moment can pass, his lips crash against hers. Her fingers tangle in his hair as his arms tighten around his waist, pulling her flush against him. He relishes in the feeling of her body in his arms, knowing he’ll never get enough of her. If he could, he’d never let her go.
She pulls away from him briefly, laughing softly as she gazes up at him. “We can’t be doing this here, Ethan,” she says, seemingly unconvinced herself. “Someone could catch us.”
“I don’t care,” he replies before kissing her once more. She sighs contentedly and the world seems to melt away. It’s only when he remembers the reason he pulled her aside in the first place that he pulls away from her, his forehead resting against hers. “I have something for you.”
Her face lights up like a Christmas tree. “A gift? For me? You shouldn’t have.”
He rolls his eyes at her, a laugh escaping him. “I think you’re thinking of something far more extravagant than what it actually is.” He reaches into the pocket of his coat and pulls out a chocolate bar, placing it in her awaiting hands with bated breath. After all, if he’s going to tell her he loves her, simply saying it isn’t going to cut it.
A frown tugs at her lips as she raises a skeptical eyebrow at the chocolate. “You got me… a P.S.?” She looks back up at him and he can’t keep from laughing at her.
“Actually look at it, Rookie,” he says, amused by the confused look on her face.
She heaves a sigh and looks back down at the chocolate bar in her hands. “P.S. I love you,” she says, reading the label out loud. A moment of silence pauses between them before realization dawns on her and she looks up at him with wide eyes. “You love me?”
He grins at her and wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her close once more. “Ah, so you are as smart as you look, Dr. Kaplan.”
She drops the chocolate bar on the ground and throws her arms around his neck, kissing the corners of his mouth, kissing his nose, kissing every inch of skin on his face that she can reach. “You are the best boyfriend ever, you know that?”
“I’m anything you want me to be,” he says, finally capturing her lips with his own. He doesn’t know how long they kiss for, but he’s breathless when they break apart. He glances down at her, suddenly unsure of himself. “So… that wasn’t too cheesy, was it?”
She laughs and he feels his cheeks burn. “Definitely not,” she says. “In fact, I wish I’d thought of it first. Because I love you too, Ethan; more than life itself.”
No longer able to contain himself, he kisses her again and reaches behind him to lock the door before pushing her towards one of the beds that surround them.
A/N: I’ve had this idea for a while now, and it was actually inspired by one of my WIPs; but I’ve been hesitant to write it since I’ve been so far behind on all the fics I’ve been tagged in (and I think it would hypocritical of me to do that lol). But now that I have caught up, or at least I hope I have, I can post this guilt free lol. I haven’t edited it either, please don’t crucify me yet.
Ethan heaves a sigh as he takes Romey’s hand in his, following a step behind her. With his free hand, he tugs his coat around him tighter, the snow falling slowly around them as they walk through rows and rows of trees. “What are we doing here, Rookie? You know I don’t celebrate Christmas.” For the longest time, Ethan had given up on Christmas. The season had lost it’s magic all those years ago, when his mother walked out of his life and never came back. There’s only so much a child can believe in after that.
She throws a smile at him over her shoulder. “That’s only because you’ve never had a proper celebration.” She stops and turns around to face him, sliding her arms around his waist. “Just humour me, Ethan. Please?”
Maybe it’s time to let go of all the hurt he harbors for the holidays. After all, they can’t be that bad if the woman before him loves them so much. Despite his best efforts, a smile tugs on his lips and he wraps his arms around her as well. “Okay, fine. But only because there’s a chance I’ll get to kiss you under mistletoe.”
“You don’t need mistletoe for that.” Before he has a chance to reply, she stands on the tips of her toes and presses her lips against her. He melts into the embrace, enveloped by her warmth. A moment of heat passes between them before she pulls away. “I won’t lie, though; it is a perk.”
He laughs softly, reclaiming her hand as they begin walking once more. “Come on; before all the good trees are taken.”
“That’s not really how this works,” she says, amused.
“So, what exactly are we looking for?” He looks around at the trees that surround them. He’s never done this before; he doesn’t know what makes for a good tree and what doesn’t. Most of all, he doesn’t want to disappoint her.
She pursues her lips as she thinks for a moment. “It has to be tall… and greener than should be possible. It has to scream holiday cheer.”
He rolls his eyes but scans the selection of trees nonetheless. “Look where we are, Rookie; you just described every tree in the vicinity.”
“You’ll know it when you see it, Ethan,” she says, pushing him playfully.
“And that strategy usually works for you?”
“Well, it led me to you, so you tell me.”
He rolls his eyes again but can’t keep the smile off his face, his cheeks growing increasingly hot. He scans the trees once more before pointing to one at random. “What about that one?”
She lets go of his hand and bounds towards it in excitement. She circles the tree slowly, appraising it’s every branch and he can’t help but laugh at the look of concentration on her face. Finally, a smile blooms on her face and she nods with approval. “Excellent find, Dr. Ramsey. It’s both tall and green.”
He bows before her. “Why, thank you, Dr. Kaplan. It’s the only one of its kind.”
She grins at him. “The irony isn’t lost on me.”
“So, is that it?” He asks as he crosses his arms over his chest. “Everyone makes such a production out of picking a tree and we’re not even here five minutes before finding one?”
“Well, do you like it?” She looks from him to the tree before looking back at him, her hands on her hips.
“It’s a tree, Romey.”
“Do you like it?”
He’s pretty sure that the only she likes the tree is because he chose it, not because it’s more Christmas-y than the others. But it can’t hurt to entertain her. “Yes.”
Her face lights up. “Then that’s all that matters. I’m going to go pay for it, you guard the tree.”
“With my life.”
-
“How many ornaments do you own?” Ethan asks, sitting on the floor of her living room in front of the tree, surrounded by dozens of Christmas ornaments and decorations.
"Judging from your tone, I'm gonna guess too many?" She says, an amused smile on her face as she stands in the kitchen. He glances at her over his shoulder, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Way too many. It's like Santa's Workshop exploded in here." He gestures wildly around him and she laughs.
"Hey, I'm not the one who decided to dump all the decorations on the floor."
"There is order in chaos."
She rolls her eyes at him and holds up a bottle for him to see. "Okay, Nietzsche; can I offer you some wine?"
He looks at her for a moment, contemplating his options. “What year is it?”
A knowing smile appears on her face. “‘69.”
“Absolutely not.” She laughs again as he turns back to the tree. It’s been a long time since he’s had to decorate a tree; he doesn’t know where to start. She appears by his side and hands him a glass of wine anyway.
“It’s not rocket science, you know.” She says as she takes the ornament from his hands and hangs it on a branch.
“I just don’t want it to look like a hot mess.” He picks up another ornament and looks at the tree carefully in search of the right place to hang it.
“And it won’t,” she says, hanging more ornaments and baubles wherever she pleases, much to Ethan’s dismay. “Just have fun with it.” He eyes her for a moment. She drinks from her glass and decorates the tree without any inhibitions. She doesn’t seem to care if it’s perfect; so why should he? Tentatively, he hangs a reindeer ornament next to the one she placed moments ago and she smiles at him. “See? That wasn’t so hard.”
He laughs softly and they continue to decorate the tree in comfortable silence. They wrap tinsel and lights around the tree and when they’re done, she lets him place the star at the top. Somehow covered in glitter, they stand back to admire their handiwork.
“You’re a natural, Dr. Ramsey,” she says, smiling up at him as he wraps his arms around and pulls her closer.
“I had a lot of help.” Leaning down, he presses his lips against hers and she melts into him. This will be the best Christmas he’s ever had; he’s sure of t.
