A less chunky Start menu
Microsoft is testing new Windows 11 customization options for people in the Windows Insider Experimental channel.
The update lets users pick between small and large Start menu sizes, with the choice staying the same across displays. Microsoft is also adding toggles for Start menu sections like Pinned, Recommended, and All.
Other changes include separate controls for file recommendations, an option to hide your name and profile picture in Start, and more taskbar placement choices on the top, bottom, left, or right side of the screen.
Observation: Tiny interface choices can feel weirdly personal, so it makes sense that people want more control over something they click every day.
