Back again with some more WoF art, this time with art from a few weeks back!
I wanted to say thank you for all the love on the Hivewing Ladies post, I'm so happy to know people liked the idea since it's alwo been a personal passion project 👍 The whole thing actually started after I first read all the WoF books in 2021, and for some reason my brain decided to fixate on Lady Yellowjacket, even though there was next to nothing abt her in the story. She was just a very vague idea of a character that started to take shape in my mind, and that's where it started.
Anyway on that trend, another one of my niche favourites from Arc 3 was Queen Monarch! I grew attached to the idea of her that I formed way before the Guidebook was released, and was so happy when Monarch appeared in that and confirmed much of the characrerization I had imagined for her.
Coincidentally this is another design I've been meaning to do for ages, so here's my headcanon take on Monarch, specifically after she's surrendered her tribe and become Wasp's prisoner (hence the scarring and lack of royal attire, aka this was an excuse to cheat out of drawing jewellery again /lh)
Also on another note, I've recently read Book 16 and really want to draw some of the characters from it, so I'll ramble about that under the cut to protect from spoilers

Ok so that was a small lie, this IS related because as those who've read book 16 know, MONARCH IS ALIVE AND WELL AAAHHFJFJF I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN THAT WAS REVEALED AND JUST REALLY WANTED TO HYPE ABOUT THAT /lh
I was so happy for her, because after seeing how heartbroken and guilty she felt for what Wasp manipulated her into and seeing how heavily it still affects her (I just wanted to hug her when she went on about how this is the second time this sort of thing happens with her), it was so cool to see her finally put her foot down and decide she will stay on the prison island with the dragons who've trusted her, because she already ran away once and it lead to nothing good, my heart 🥹
Anyway I also love Royal so much, omg, I really need to make a design for him soon aaa
You guys finally get a colored version of my monarch! I can't imagine she could have for seen what wasp would do to her people. I think she wanted the best possible outcome for them, having seen and heard what the book of clear sight guided the tribes through.
I decided to draw Queen Monarch of the silkwings cause I really like her (she's like a top 10 favourite for her AGttDW POV alone) poor gal I hope she's still alive (we don't know for certain!!!!!!!) I also think she had more than platonic feelings for Queen sequoia but that's a different hc.
I personally like to draw royalty in wof with more unique headgear than simply crowns mainly because I don't like drawing crowns but something that incorporates flowers and nature fits silk,leaf and rainwings much better.
ik i already posted monarch and sequoia BUT HERE THEY ARE AGAIN BC I FINALLY MADE THEIR CROWNS!! i plan on posting the crowns alone when i finish the pyrrhian ones too. tried to make them look like something or are made from a material that would be cherished. silkwings w/ vibrants colors and butterfly wings as well as pearls that reflect the 3 moons (i hc that silkwings somewhat lived near the shore and sometimes sea dived, using their wings to float to the surface guaranteed or make nets out of strong silk). hivewings' are black with a beetle in the middle and again the 3 moons out of gold. leafwings are made out of polished, extremely old tree bark (tried to use the colors of the longest living trees) w/ little pearls to resemble petals.

Cockroach the former king (arranged partner of cochineal). he is the embodiment of 'rich ppl screwing up others' lives for entertainment or morbid curiosity'. he DOES NOT care about the consequences of his actions and made Wasp worse for giggles. im dead serious. just for giggles. he hated her because initially she wasn't 'as good as him' so he ended up purposely driving her to be EVEN WORSE. i HATE this guy and everyone n the entire kingdom hated him. everyone is like that one pip to ramb about him but they're actually valid.
Dracaena the queen of leafwings before her daughter Sequoia. she passed down her leafspeak which only reappeared with her twin granddaughters, Birch and Juniper. i have this hc that almost every tribe, most notably silk, leaf and rain, have a tradition to keep a name for very promising queens. like silk has Monarch, so i decided the genus of the dragon tree is for leafwings. as such she lived up to her name. in this time the HiveWings had lost their tribe in the cave system after a mass collaspe and Cochineal wasn't only trying to find enough land to relocate in, but even more land to take. she also tried to keep her tribe as the 'top tribe'. Dracaena said nuh-uh and called Cochineal out everytime. Diadem can subtly agree all she wants Dracaena ain't budging. she also has anger issues but just wouldnt talk to u when she was mad at u until she calmed down.
Ash the former king of LeafWings and husband of Dracaena. he lived much longer than her dying 5 years after his grandson's hatching. he was very goated and everyone loved him. he was chill and liked to carve a lot. he hosted contests and kept up with the tribe's library and records. he didnt grow attached to permanence and told every to not worry about his passing but his grandson refused and said he will always be remembered.
