got around to watching Wolf Man (2025) and omg the themes I love them spoilers I guess below cut
the fear and horror of becoming the worst part of your father,
the ways trying to protect someone can actually traumatize them,
the loss of a loved one when they become someone you never thought they'd be,
for the dad who becomes a werewolf how when you're losing yourself, for lack of better words, word of love and hope for you becoming incoherent/illegible,
and for the wife/mom in the movie losing someone to a battle that --we don't know for sure in the movie but I'm guessing-- predates your time with them and that you've never really been fully clued in on,
and that's on top of the usual traditional werewolf horror theme of "what if you lost your humanity and became a danger to loved ones in a way you could not fully grasp or even prevent?"
now time to go post on letterboxd and see if others liked it like I did or if I'm just Obsessed With Family Trauma
