so. special interest #1, Funny Schuut Game: Splatoon. I've been obsessed with this franchise since the first installation came out in 2015. I've spent quite literally thousands of hours across both currently released games, and many thousands more hours crafting intricate worlds based on the lore. (My switch profile lists me at nearly 2,000 hours in Splatoon 2). I have over 200 characters for the series (more than 20 of which are regularly active), more than 35 linked storylines, at least 3 separate universes, and I've written hundreds of thousands of words of roleplay with fellow splatoon fans. I Fucking Love This Game. I spent three years fighting to the second highest rank (S) with garbage internet and when spla2n dropped I Became A God. Not to be self obsessed (yes to be self obsessed) but I'm SO good at this game and it's one of my greatest achievements. I have the highest rank possible in the game in all ranked modes (X), i've been in top 2000 worldwide players twice, and my goal is to one day hit top 500! it's my longest standing special interest and a core tenet of my personality. a godpunk without splatoon is no godpunk at all
special interest #2, biology and palaeontology. I have never committed to one phase at a time ever in my life. I was proudly a dinosaurs, dragons, AND dolphins kid. At one point I could recite an entire alphabet of dinosaurs without a pause. Walking with Dinosaurs was effectively my religion from ages 5 to 12. When the news that Spinosaurus had a finned tail came out I Lost My Mind. Equally, though, i LOVE marine biology. I know an insane amount about the zones of the ocean, bioluminescence, deep sea life, and various aquatic ecosystems. did you know that porpoises have memes?
special interest #3, mythology. I LOVE legends and myths and all of that. I literally got my parents to read me the iliad AND the odyssey before I could read it myself. I am obsessed. I know several local myths and I'm fascinated by urban legend and cryptids (I have a cryptid theriotype actually - i'm a not-deer). However my favourite type of mythology is, for obvious reasons, legendary dogs like Laelaps and the Moddey Dhoo.
