Je ne fais pas souvent appel aux gens sur cette page mais aujourd'hui je lance via cette courte BD un appel à l'aide, littéralement.
Mon amie, Jade, qui est dans une situation d'extrême précarité va faute de revenus, du fait de la discrimination à l'embauche, se retrouver à la rue.
Ma demande concerne le partage de cette courte note, qui parlera d'elle même de sa situation.
Plus elle sera partagée plus Jade aura une chance de retrouver du travail et donc un début de situation stable.

Like there's something about working in a mostly white company where you see it and hear it every day but it doesn't feel valid until someone who's there is like "fuck, yes!! Them motherfuckers be racist. I heard it too"
I needed this.
When I was 16, I was harassed by my store manager so severely that I ended up quitting my job. She screamed at me in front of customers, would grab my arm so harshly that I would bruise, and complaining about working with “someone like that” to my coworkers. One day was so bad I was crying throughout my shift and had multiple panic attacks. Even my dad, the man who told me to my face he wished I died instead of my brother and verbally abused me most of my life, got upset about how the manager treated me. After almost three months pf this treatment one of my coworkers told me why she was doing this: she found out I’m a lesbian and being a deeply religious lady, got very upset. She had told my coworkers that she hated working with a dyke, and that she wished she had a reason to fire me so she wouldn’t have work with some faggot. I quit shortly after this, and reported her to corporate, who took no action against her. Not only did she ban me from her store, she told most of the other employers in my small town, who refused to hire me solely based on my preferences. I’ve since left my tiny, conservative town and moved to a different state, and I couldn’t be happier, but I sometimes still have nightmares about working there again
I hate Discrimination
Today I did a follow-up on a possible job prospect.(dishwasher in a bar). I was completely up front told him I was blind but I did all household chores at home. He then said if your blind how can I work. My response was" with a green pad, soap, water...is that not how you do it. The conversation then ended on social media. What else did he expect me to say ?
Summary
Before doing my research, I thought that the problem of work inequality for queer women of color was something that did not occur at the professional level. For example, the second scholarly article that I looked at dealt with work discrimination of LGBT physicians. Before I would have thought that this problem would not be as far reaching as the medical filed because I see doctors as open minded people. Knowing that this type of discrimination and harassment can happen in any place and in any work environment is terrifying. Logan mentioned in her article that there are two ways that a person can deal with harassment: either say nothing or confront the aggressor. In this case, both of those options are not good because saying nothing just makes people think that what they are saying is fine and if you confront the aggressor you could potentially get fired. In summary, having an education does not save you from experiencing discrimination, and that is something that needs to change. Everyone (with or without an education) should feel secure in their work environment.
