I remember Eric Johnson from “Smallville”. He played Whitney, Lana’s original love interest. Although I liked him in the series, they didn’t give him much to do so he was quickly written out.
I saw a few episodes of “Flash Gordon” on Scifi. I wanted to like the show but it came across as too low budget. And other than Eric, there were several poor casting choices.
After that, I lost track of him until this weekend. My cable system is offering a free week for some steaming channel and I discovered Johnson on two different shows:
“Condor” on Epix. Johnson plays an FBI agent in a show about spies and counter-spies. I was surprised by how well he held up in 20 years. He’s even better looking now. And he handles himself pretty well in the role.
“American Gods” on Starz. He plays a small town sheriff. It was a nice contrast to his role on Condor.
Looking at his resume, Eric Johnson has consistently worked on TV and movies with at least three more series than mention above. Good for him.
The only blemish I see is his role in the “Fifty Shades” franchise (which I’ve never read nor seen). But Jamie Dornan starred in those films and I like him as an actor, so I can forgive Eric Johnson for this mis-step.
I’ll have to keep an eye open for Eric Johnson’s next role.
