I love workspace horror.
Very odd setup for a post but I genuinely think it's altered my brain chemistry enough to grant me part of my current job position, I'm not going to rant about it.
Going through the Magnus Archives and going back to some of my best fandoms and most invested fandoms I've been in I've found a specific hole in my heart for the casual creeps that workplace horror provides.
Like, for example: an office job has this one weird filing cabinet that sometimes has a head in it and there's nothing to be done about it considering it's just there and wants to be involved for the office parties. Or biblically accurate angels inhabiting some rooms in a nursing home as well as the people who have incorrect orifice alignment in the uncanny way, not in the genuine rare birth defect way.
This niche for me is a five star meal and like- a lifelong interest and sub-genre I always fall in love with every time I see it AND it's executed well. Inside Job, SCP Foundation (and yes it absolutely counts think about for more than three seconds you nitwit) and my favorite Tales From The Gas Station.
Actually Mr. Creepypasta has covered a shit ton of NoSleeps and Creepypastas that follow that now that I'm thinking of it. I'm like this because of him. He did this. (he did NOT in fact do this)
Anywhoodles all this to say I'm currently at my nightshift job having a goof and a gaff reading AO3 and staring down the one guy in the lobby by the cafe' that REALLY should put his tendrils away because I means it's a little insensitive to be waving those things around so offensively when I'm just doing my job. Y'all get me?
