Ghosts
○ Ghosts– Tony Words: 249
It's annoying. They always move around him, always making him feel on edge. It's a soft brush against his hands, the whisper on his ear. It feels like all he can do is hear and feel, picture things in his mind as images come to life before his very own eyes.
It's not always easy. It's not always the heavy burden on his heart. But they are always there, on his every step and every breath. Unforgiving. Unrelenting. Indistinct to his achievements, always growling. Always harsh. Some times soft and slow.
It's the lives that are on his hands, the ones that have grazed his life. One relationship, one action, one thought. He never knows when it will come to him so vividly, or if it'll be a dull muffled scream. But he knows it'll come. Sooner or later, his past ghosts will reach him. Tony knows.
And he knows that, as much as he tries to drown them, they'll always come back, harsher and in a frenzy. He can't blame them. He's always making mistakes. Somehow, all he ever tries blows on his face. The bitter thought of doing his last desperate action to drown all the voices surely will end up with him not managing, with something or other keeping him glued to this very Earth. The one he has tried to protect. Tried. All the victories taste like defeat to him. And is such a bitter taste on his mouth.
But he's Tony Stark. And he's got a character to play. He's got bussiness left unfinished. And for all his plan that have gone backwards, he knows he's still capable of good things. He can create. He can--
He can keep trying.
He can survive this.
