Religiographies is «an open-access, peer-reviewed, scholarly journal dedicated to the field of religious studies that aims to promote an interdisciplinary approach to religious phenomena, encouraging a dialogue between historians, sociologists, anthropologists, literary scholars, philosophers, and psychologists», published by Venice-based Fondazione Giorgio Cini.

A new issue – no.1, vol 2, 2023 – is now available online.

Cerco storie che siano scomode anche per me e per chi grosso modo condivide le mie idee. Sarebbe troppo facile raccontare cose scomode solo per gli altri, per chi la pensa diversamente da me. Non varrebbe la pena conoscere, se conoscere non ci mettesse in crisi. Un sapere rassicurante per chi lo coltiva non può nemmeno essere detto un sapere, è solo un girare intorno al non-voler-sapere.

«L’article analyse le roman La macchina del vento de Wu Ming 1. Le texte est une hybridation de trois genres narratifs : le roman historique, le roman de science-fiction et l’épos classique. Le but est d’étudier l’interaction entre ces genres à travers les théories de la focalisation de Manfred Jahn. Il en résulte que le roman historique représente le monde où les événements se déroulent, l’épos la façon de percevoir ce monde et la science-fiction les événements eux-mêmes. En outre, en considérant que l’élément science-fictionnel fait partie du sous-genre des « voyages dans le temps », l’article essaie de reconstruire les différentes conceptions du temps dans le texte. Enfin, à travers le conflit né entre ces différentes conceptions, il est possible de reconnaître la valeur politique du roman, qui fait interagir plusieurs imaginaires entre eux.»

Wu Ming 1 is an original and ongoing member of the Wu Ming collective, which was founded in Bologna in 2000 and has, since that time, published several collaboratively written novels including 54, Manituana, Altai, The Army of Sleepwalkers, and The Invisible Everywhere, which have been translated into many languages.

Wu Ming evolved out of the experimental collective project Luther Blissett whose famous 1999 novel Q focused on conspiracies of liberation and of repression during the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century.

More recently, that novel and the Wu Ming Collective have been the subject of a great deal of speculation around the rise of the QAnon conspiracy fantasy. Regarding that, Wu Ming 1 has just published a book in Italian, La Q di Qomplotto (The Q in Qonspiracy: How Conspiracy Fantasies Defend the System), which presents a highly original and important analysis of the genesis and dangers of this strange hallucination.
