~Xialla Brooks, entry 8. Being grounded and sick~
Chores, chores, and chores. Throwing up, cleaning the toilet, studying. ARGH. I hate it here! Only Red understands me. Red and Whiskers are the only ones I let in my room.
What isn’t Dad telling me!?

What isn’t Dad telling me!?
~Xialla Brooks, entry 7. Sick and Alone~
I wasn’t allowed to go to school for the rest of the week. I was sick, so very sick and delirious pretty much. Dad wouldn’t let me go to the hospital, and he wouldn’t tell me why, so I refused to talk to them. I wouldn’t talk to Mom, and it took me even a few days to talk to Oscar.
I just want to be alone, alone in my room locked away behind the weird thick door and machines and plants. Like I’m some sort of freaking pariah. I guess that fits, no one likes me.
~Xialla Brooks, entry 6. I don’t understand!~
I felt like crap later that day. Both Oscar and I had spots. He went to the hospital without me, I thought he was going to wait, so no big deal, I can just catch up. I have always known how to get to the hospital, how to get to help. It’s one of the things they teach in elementary.
Dad was in the front garden, tending to the flowers.
“Hey sweetie, where are you going?”
“To the doctor. If I don’t get some medicine and the shot, I might get hospitalized like the other kids, so I’m just going to go. I can do it, Oscar is there right now.”
“What, the hospital??? No, NO you can’t!!”
“What? Why not?! I’m sick Dad, when you’re sick you go to the hospital!”
“No-I mean yes, when people are sick, they do go, but...you you can’t Xi sweetie okay, you you can’t go. No, you aren’t going.”
“What? Dad I don’t understand, I’m sick-”
“Then you go to your room and sleep it off, but you are not going to the hospital, only normal sims go to the hospital!”
“What do you mean by normal? Dad, you aren’t making any sense, I am going to the hospital to get better!”
“No, you are NOT!”
“I’m fourteen years old and I don’t want to be sick for days and not go to school, what if I die or what if I have to have a limb amputated, just because you are being irrationally stupid doesn’t mean I can’t go! I am going!”
“THAT’S IT YOU ARE GROUNDED YOUNG LADY GET TO YOUR ROOM NOW!”
“BUT DAD-!”
“GO!”
Crying, I ran back into my room. I don’t understand!!!!!!
~Xialla Brooks, entry 5. Calm~
I love playing games. There is a sense of anonymity to being online, I am actually able to use voice changers and stuff too so no one knows it’s the weird stinky Brooks that no one likes in High School.
Oscar is terrified about his internship. I can smell his fear, if that makes any sense! It does to me, at least.
“Come on bro, you’ll get it. I am sure they have a lot of applicants, so it’s just going to take a while.”
“Maybe, you’re probably right. It’s just I graduate soon, I just want to know, you know?”
“They’ll get back to you soon, I promise!”
But a few days later, both Oscar and I caught the bug that has been floating around school, and he still didn’t get any news.
I told Mom about the funny feeling in the back of my throat.
“If this continues I probably should go to the hospital...a couple of kids have had to be hospitalized. I don’t want that! So I can just go get the shot, you know?” Shots never scared me, even though I have never had one. I’ve never actually been to the doctor, or really all that sick honestly. I was sort of excited to see what they did at a hospital!
Mom didn’t say anything.
~Red Brooks, entry 3. Even more troubles~
The remaining children had a fight. I could tell. Whiskers fixed it, but things weren’t quite the same. Xialla needs to know. Andi needs to tell her that she isn’t human, that she is from Sixam. Silly humans, always afraid of things that they don’t know. Afraid of things they do not understand.
“Hey you two, have you made up? Good! Xi, go talk to your Dad, the homework can wait!” Of course they don’t understand me. I am the only one holding the house down now. Whiskers decided to go searching for Cayson. I tried telling the cat that she couldn’t get to Britechester from here, even for me it would take several days with my abilities...but she decided to go anyways. I hope Nature carries her there safely.
“Hold on Cayson, I’m coming...and if I find that stash, I am flushing it down the toilet!”
~Xialla Brooks, entry 10. A trip outside the norm~
I am so behind in school, but I have no motivation. What’s even the point of scouts and school anyway if I am not allowed to go anywhere by myself? Everything is JUST STUPID.
But one afternoon, when Mom and Dad were out for a Love Day date, he flicked my nose, so I flicked his, and he dragged me (sorta, I was more than willing though) to the library for a change of scenery and to study. I know he’s upset about that internship. He hasn’t told me, but he thinks about it constantly and...I can hear his thoughts, if I concentrate. It’s something thrilling, and cool. I don’t tell anyone about it though, because Dad may never let me out again.
The library was a fun trip. I got caught up on a lot of my late assignments, and got on the swings, and even talked with an ALIEN CONSPIRACY THEORIST. Wow!
“Hey miss, have you seen a tv show by chance of aliens, like a newscast?”
“What?! No, but that sounds amazing! What channel was it on, do you know?”
“No...”
“Oh, dang! I’ll have to keep an eye out for it, show my support! The government and military have everyone terrified of an alien invasion and how they want to harvest our organs, but personally I think it’s plum! Aliens are just like us, they just want to survive. So if we come to an agreement, you know, like over pizza, everything would be fine! The government and military are just scaredy-cats that want to shut up us true believers!!!!”
“I’d let an alien probe me any day, I would love to have their babies!”
“Uh, what?”
“Oh shut it Erv, she’s just a kid! Have you had THE TALK with your parents yet kid?”
“The talk?”
“I’ll take that as a no. Suffice to say, babies come from storks.”
I didn’t say anything else, suddenly too afraid to try to take a peek inside her brain...OR his!
~Xialla Brooks, entry 9.~
Back to school soon. Where people hate me just as much as my parents it seems. I just don’t want to be here anymore. I want a friend. But instead I just have my brother, and video games. I called Cayson. His college experience sounds AMAZING.
Dad probably won’t even let me go to university if he won’t let me go to a...PLUMMING hospital. So what’s the point of school?
~Xialla Brooks, entry 4. Chilling~
I like when I can be at home. I play League of Legends, and I can lose myself for hours into a video game. They are pretty fun! I also try to get better at chess, so one day I might be able to beat Oscar! We’ve been playing more lately. I know he’s struggling and stressed. I keep telling him of course he’ll get into that internship! He thinks about it constantly, he even told me about it finally, even though I knew. He talks about it to himself constantly, but so quietly no one else can hear. He’s applying to the detective program, he wants to become a cop he thinks. He just wants to help people, and figure out how to protect us better as a family, especially after Marin. Of course he’ll get in!
I also found a cool new tv show! It’s a live broadcast of aliens, it’s kinda a sitcom I think. Dad always told me aliens were taboo though, so I keep it hush hush, and switch it to the World Culture network when anyone approaches. I also keep it turned down to 5. I can hear it somehow!
