You are my Cup of Coffee (xiuseo drabble)

  I deserve a coffee break.

Seohyun writhed as she announced the thought to herself. She had too much stress to deal with from the past few days, yet, she knew, at the innermost tissue of her brain, that it wasn’t the most practical time to go to the cafe in front of the building she worked at.

Her life was particularly comprised of pragmatic and efficient decisions. From her hairstyle which was always in a tidy, high ponytail, down to her glossy pumps; the littlest detail in her, she made sure that everything was proper.

And that was definitely the very basic reason why she ordered just a brewed coffee, strong and black–even she was already in a tempting, luscious-looking café. Since her presence there was unknown to her boss, she didn’t have any leisure time to spend there. She was minimizing the minutes she would spend, taking in the aroma of the coffee. The balm atmosphere fluttered its way through her nostrils and soothed down her nerves.

Yes, I do deserve this.

She inhaled as much as her lungs could take in, not wanting to breathe out if wasn’t for the fact that it might actually suffocate her. Slowly, she exhaled. And just as she was about to savour the last amount of the coffee in her disposable medium-sized cup, she met the eyes of a man she hadn’t seen before.

Consciousness knocked off on her like a strong slap and she immediately  put the disposable down and dabbed her napkin at her mouth. It would be really unfeminine of her if the guy behind the counter saw a frothy moustache on her. But realization hit her even harder when she recalled that she needed not to worry for she only ordered a simple brewed coffee.

With too much embarrassment within herself, she decided to grab her purse. She wanted to escape the stranger’s warm, hell-bent gaze on her. For Pete’s sake, it got her all jittery. But much to her surprise, the man was already beside her table, standing still with a cup of good-smelling coffee.

Seohyun didn’t know which took her in surprise–that the man moved in an impossible agile to get there to her from behind the counter or the fact that his presence proved the unexplainable excitement gushing through her veins.

Now, she could take a better look at him. He wore white polo, the long sleeves crumpled upwards in a stylish manner, matched with the white pants. And the suspenders, she swore under her breath, the suspenders on him said it all.

She scowled inwardly.

Probably the side effect of coffee.

She reasoned out.

“Miss, before you go…”

Seohyun clutched on her poor purse and eventually looked up to meet his gaze. Her heartbeat became more rapid as the corner of his lips lifted.

“Coffee caramel for a very beautiful lady.”

“I-I never ordered though.” She stuttered, much for being composed, as she looked to the cup of the deluxe, foamy coffee caramel in her table and back to the man. She tried to ignore the compliment but her rosy cheeks contravened her mind.

“Let’s make a deal then. You won’t have to pay as long as I get to know you. Equally profitable for the two of us, you think?”

Seohyun might have thought he was smug and blunt but his eyes were soft she couldn’t dare give him her usual sassy remarks. She continued to blink at his ridiculous offer, trying to absorb as much sense as she could. But to no avail, her attempts were futile.

“Let’s just say…you’re my cup of coffee.” He added, at last, with his earnest to highlight the finality in his voice. “I’d say you’re my cup of tea but I am a barista and I preferred coffee, so…”

Seohyun stared at the sin in front of her; both at the cup fizzed with heavenly amount of whipped cream, dusted with specs of hazel brown confection and to the handsome man.

She quenched the giggles in her, causing an awkward smile plastered on.

And she forgot the face of her boss, keeping it in store in the innermost tissue of her brain.

What is practical if the good-looking barista occupies wholly her sight?

A/N: I need coffeeee! Anyway, so this is 1/12 of my exseo drabbles. I want to post this on aff but aff kind of bores the heck out of me so...yeah.
