So it’s safe to say this video was far more challenging for me than the wangxian video. She’s a lot more clip-heavy and I honestly wasn’t sure I could make it work when I started it. I really wanted to do a video for these two, though, so I persevered and managed to finish it!
My goal with this video was to show what these two brothers have been through together, the moments where they were really pushed to their limits and the ways in which they treated one another in such instances. I also wanted to show how their lives changed them and their relationship, with both of them putting up their walls at different points to protect both themselves and one another. I really think Jiang Yanli’s death was the final tipping point that drove the two of them away from one another, which is why I included the scene at Nightless City at the very beginning of the video (it wasn’t just me being a jerk lmao). These two have such a complicated relationship, but I like to think that somewhere down the road they begin to slowly mend and rebuild their relationship and Shijie is up in heaven smiling down on them, finally at peace now that her two beloved brothers are united again.
