But I believe that fantasy shows a reality that we often forget. In this day and age, our generation has been so numbed to the horrors of the world that crafting a new one with the same horrors seems to have a far stronger affect than the news reporting another school shooting. When those who read fantasy or dystopian or science fiction are hit with the terrible realization that these made up things they just read are actually a possibility, a reality, we are filled with emotion. The kind that causes action. We need more of that.
