Poem From English - Living Love
When I was little I wanted to be successful I would say I wanted to be a vet I would say I wanted to be a doctor I would say I wanted to be an engineer Here I am now, Looking around at my peers My peers who haven’t decided My peers who also struggle Because we were told living is love, But if we don’t love what we’re doing, are we living? Because we were told living is success, And if we aren’t succeeding then we can’t be living. They told us to do what makes us happy, What makes us passionate, What makes us feel But you need money Or the only thing you’ll be feeling is the cold on your cheeks as you’re falling asleep on a park bench And the screams of your stomach eating you from the inside out, Because we were told art doesn’t equal success. So here I stand, not sure what I love On the border of passion and wealth, Of joy and content, Knowing that both can make me happy, but at the same time neither can I’m starting to see As I look at the faces around me The people who succeeded at following feelings The people who felt they were succeeding The people who changed what life was supposed to mean I see suffering in them all, But also the joy, The joy that they put in their own lives Because living isn’t strictly passion, Or wealth, Or struggle, Its what you do with it. Living is feeling.
