Recently l read an article about a mother who’s child doesn’t share the same skin color her.
lt was interesting reading the comments other mothers who have been through this situation had said, as well as those who were always curious to know themselves.
I myself have been through this.
When my family leaves this house and Mad to the nearest store we seem to be what Catches their eyes. I am full Spanish, and dark skinned. My children on the other hand are very white. My girls are dirty blondes and hazel green eyes.MY eldest son has dark brown HAIR with green eyes, and my youngest. He’s my blue eyed brunette.
We have gotten many stares and comments. I have been asked if they were mine (yes people ask that)
I have been called the nanny, and the infamous older sister.
l have learned to just let the disgust looks and stares go.
When I am asked whether they are mine I simply reply “Yes they are, l pushed them all out.
I dont see the point in getting mad, there is no end to it and it will never stop. If your child doesnt look like you then he simply doesnt. Getting angry at someone else because they are nosey and curious doesnt help the situation. Kill them with kindness or come up with something cleaver thats tells them yes but also says “thanks for asking me instead of whispering around or staring with your mouth open”.
This also applies for parents who have kids with disabilities.
Educate them. Its all you can do!
