yingyuan reached peak hotness whenever he was defending his people. once when issuing whispered threats into yingdeng’s ear when she tried to chase yandan's theatre group out of the empty pixiang hall, and the second time when he defended his soldiers against the attendants 😘👌

thoughts while watching immortal samsara ep 1-10:

the opening scene of yandan jumping off the cliff still doesn't make sense to me but i suspect that's the bridge of emptiness...but thr ML still has black hair but yingyuan's has already turned white??? the dots aren't connecting yet

let me just say this cast is amazing. my fav li lianhua/yu sifeng is back to cough more blood. sikong changfeng/chu lei is back as yet another Dad character. wen qing!!!! luohou jidu is back and im here with my dufeng agenda 😈

i think the long term self isolation yingyuan imposes on himself is what makes him so dramatic and mysterious. he hates attention but is addicted to being suave and cool.

i love how yandan is beefing with a fish. the fish turns out to be a pretty okay guy later on, but at the point of their introduction he's literally a fish.

don't get me started on that tortoise. i heard he'll eventually cultivate a human form, but yingyuan definitely has beef with that tortoise. no wonder yingyuan and yandan are such a perfect match. yandan's attempt to catch the tortoise-flipping god was also a turning point where yingyuan's more playful side came out.

yingyuan seems to not have had a great childhood while under the guardianship of the supreme emperor. who else finds flipping tortoises and roof tiles entertaining? and takes pleasure in creating weiqi puzzles thst make other immortals flip their boards in frustration 😂 i love that he's able to be kind and fair to everyone he meets, no matter the status or how petty the incident (see the first stardust gathering zhixi did).

he's kind and fair, but distant, even to himself. he says aloud multiple times in the show that being born an asura was a sin he had to atone for, and actively participates in war against the 妖魔. he isolates himself from all but a few people, because he has such a big heart being hidden under his many many layers and his cool guy persona would be shattered the second he actually enjoys himself in public. oh and he def would have broken the love rule in like, 0.1 seconds if he had a normal social life outside of work.

yandan brings out the playful and fun side of yingyuan through sheer stubbornness. he fights fire with fire and matches her one for one in every one of her tricks with enthusiasm that grows with the passing days. the first time yandan tries to catch him, he simply dissolves away. very dijun-like behaviour. the second time yandan sets a trap on the tortoise, he leaves an infuriating note and rigs a powder explosion in her face. also very dijun-like behaviour.

This feels like a fanfic. All the things we wished that could've happened in ash like frost happened. I LOVED that yingyuan is not stupid. He knows what's going on. He's the sovereign after all. I can still remember how i hated how stupid yehua was.

Also, like how yandan isn't naive. Bad things keep happening to her. She won't be able to do anything. It's understandable based on her status but i liked how she's just kind of simmering? y'know when you're so mad but you can't scream and trash your room or workplace. All you're left to do is stare into nothingness. It makes sense.

I also watched the trailers for episode 14-15. There was no captions but i hope it's going to be yandan screaming at yingyuan cause he's an idiot.

I mean, he isn't, but what can he do. idk!! I think he should've at least called out yandan in her bs lowkey. Yandan wouldn't care about what people thinks but she definitely would care if she know yingyuan knows. you know what i mean???
