yoogeon...jiyeon spent almost the entirety of the walk from her house repeating the name over and over again in her head. han yoogeon. well, they certainly shared the same surname. having to keep track of so many names and faces in the town was already a lot. to not be able to put a face to the name on a day-to-day basis only made it harder to remember who he was and when they might have met. but at the end of the day, it didn’t really matter to her if she managed to remember him or not, because her grandma had no reason to lie about their relationship.
deep down, jiyeon knew it was probably just the bitterness of her past that kept her from remembering. she’d spent all this time pretending that she had no other family outside of her grandma, that now that she was coming face-to-face with one, jiyeon was being forced to face reality. once arriving to the address provided by her grandma, she knocked on the door with a reluctant sigh.
“hello. i am han jiyeon. i come bearing pie, baked by my grandma. she told me to check up on you since we’re cousins, or something.” her words were stiff as she’d basically just regurgitated words fed to her by her grandma (albeit altering the sentences ever so slightly). “please, take it. it’s chilly out here.”
