Eternal Love of Dream: Episodes 22 & 23

We’ve finally gone back to the Nine Heavens! Phew. We made it through the mortal arc... Let’s head in... Shall we? 

As always spoilers!

Episode twenty-two

This highlights Donghua’s character through and through. If it doesn’t grip him to the point he becomes curious about it like Fengjiu does, he won’t go any further. But the show obviously including the tear rolling down tells us he’ll find out about the mortal arc one way or another. I mean he is kind of interested in what happens (shown in the next eps) but I personally don’t think he will discover it until later on in the show. 

Bud. I’m telling you this now and probably will for the rest of the series. Give up on her.

Why, hello Bai Qian. Lovely to see you. This screenshot is cute, I’m just noticing it. 

And Ah Li lived on to be a great matchmaker, one of the most renowned in all of the nine heavens... 

Ah Li is a boy but is being played by a girl. (Not sure why, but I think they’re doing a great job playing Ah Li.)

Ah, look. Some new characters! Both fall in love with Bai Fengjiu, both won’t have their love reciprocated by her. All in all, both of them are great characters. I particularly like Cang Yi because of what he does in the next few episodes.

Episode twenty-three

I do love the incorporation of Cheng Yu... Her character has become such a mood, she’s giving us a voice. 

I told you many times not to do these things. 

Yeah......... he’ll find out. 

Bai Qian vibes anyone? All I remember her doing was this exact pose and drinking alcohol. 

Her father doesn’t appear in the novel, well, I think he’s mentioned a couple of times.

You’re going to regret that in about 10 minutes, boo-boo. 

Everyone. A moment of peace. Bai Zhen has finally returned to grace our screens. 

Yes. You. Go. Man! I see why he’s the favourite uncle now. I love how Zhe Yan proposes the marriage but Bai Zhen is persuading against it. Couple goals right there, ahem, I mean ‘special relationship’ goals. 

How does one fall in love so quickly like this? Love really was different back then. 

I really do applaud Cang Yi, Fengjiu challenges him to fight, Fengjiu destroying the grounds of his home. Him. Not putting any blame on her and not asking for compensation. Also saying he would wait for her if she ever needed someone. Man. That’s love... right there. Fengjiu really is blind to see there are some great men falling in love with her... Ye Qingti... Cang Yi... Xiangli Meng.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 27

I must say, I am pretty jealous. Donghua playing Go on a boat in the middle of a pond filled of lotus flowers. I mean, I wish I could enjoy life like that too. Well, maybe not the go part, because that game is super hard actually. To me. I like Chinese chess better. But for having lived in Hanzhou and having walked around the West Lake filled with flowers, it’s just so peaceful and calm. Being an immortal does have some nice benefits. So while playing, Lian Song starts gossiping about Fengjiu and since Donghua knows that she transformed herself into a handkerchief he’s teasing on purpose. Once again, Lian Song loses the game and takes the cup of tea that was holding Fengjiu-handkerchif down. Thus the wind blows and she falls down in the water. Donghua brings her back and hides in his clothes. Lian Song says it’s a good day to practice with his weapon, but Donghua declines and says he has something else to do and then just leaves without even saying goodbye. So Donghua like. Seems like Lian Song also knows the handkerchief is Fengjiu.

Back in his palace, Donghua puts Fengjiu-handkerchief on an incense burner.

Just a comment like this and just my own personal opinion. I don’t like the scenes in which Fengjiu is transformed in something else than a person. This time as the handkerchief, before as the spiritual fox. It looks very cheap and poorly made and I don’t know. The whole drama overall is beautiful with gorgeous sceneries. And then this. I seriously don’t know how they could have made it look better, so I am indeed criticizing without being able to suggest something different, but I don’t know, I feel they didn’t give much thought to those scenes and I feel it’s really a shame.

Ahli goes and finds Zheyan for help. He wants Zheyan to go and bring back Fengjiu because he things Donghua still hasn’t notice that the handkerchief is Fengjiu. How cute is our little riceball? Zheyan agrees, but he will go the next day because even if did go right away, since it’s the middle of the night, Donghua will probably not give him back the handkerchief.

In his kitchen, Donghua is back to cooking his fish. The dreadful fish. Is he going to feed to Fengjiu? Hahaha. He keeps on sending his knife almost on her, he’s so doing it on purpose. As soon as Donghua leaves, Fengjiu goes back to her usual form and eats some of the fish Donghua made. It’s still as disgusting as before.

In the yard, Lian Song is demonstrating the new things he added to his tower weapon thingy and Chong Lin gets sucked in it. Donghua is like “wow, thumbs up dude”. I don’t think that was supposed to happen haha. He doesn’t know how to make him come out.

In the kitchen, Fengjiu is making the fish all over again, while Lian Song tries to get Cong Lin back with Donghua as his spectator. Unabble to do it, Lian Song kinds of beg Donghua to solve the problem. Just one movement and done. chong Lin is back. Lian Song then says it smells really good and Donghua tells him he made his signature dish. Then Lian Song is like, well, I know how are your cooking skills, plus you are not in the kitchen right now. Hey listen, I have an idea so she would show her real form.

Fengjiu only gets to take one bite of that fish she made before Lian Song and Donghua comes in the kitchen to eat. Well, does Donghua ever eats? Like, he always just dips his chopsticks in the dish and smells it. Oh right, he ate the Wuyou cakes. I thought maybe he didn’t need to eat because that was like... he reached such a high level of cultivation it’s not necessary anymore. I mean, it could have made sense. Anyways, as he smells the fish, it seems he thinks back of the one Fengjiu made when she was a palace maid. In the end, he didn’t even get to have a bite, Lian Song ate it all by himself. Then he says that if only Chengyu could it something like this, she would get better so much faster. He says she’s so sick she can’t even stand up, which makes Fengjiu really worried.

Zheyan comes with Ahli to pay a visit to Donghua. He starts by praising the scenery, the tea pavilion, the smell of the tea and blabla, but Ahli rushes him to say why they came. So Zheyan says that while playing, Ahli lost his handkerchief which holds a special meaning to him because it was made by his grandmother and that it seems that Donghua took it. Fengjiu is really happy, thinking that then Donghua won’t have a choice but to let her go. But Donghua just gives them a random handkerchief. Ahli complains that it’s not the one, but Zheyan takes him away. Ahli is so cute. He’s like “since you didn’t give it your all, then I’m ignoring you from now on”. Then Zheyan just distracts Ahli with something else haha. Kids <3

Donghua tells her that since she won’t come back, he will use her to clean his sword. So Fengjiu decides it’s more than about time that she escapes. So while Donghua is sleeping, she transforms back, but while trying to stand up, she breaks a pot. Whoooops. She tries to use a spell to make him feel like he’s dreaming, but it doesn’t really work. However, he pretends it does and then she leaves.

She’s having a little walk in Donghua’s palace, to think back about the past and dream some more about Donghua. Poor girl. Well, at least now he thinks she’s interesting. And seems like he followed her and he cast a sleeping spell on her. Because the love spell is unecessary. And he’s turning her back into a handkerchief.

While Donghua flies to meet with Yan Chiwu, Fengjiu wakes up and realizes she’s still by Donghua’s side and thus believes that her whole escape was just a dreaming. Chiwu has been waiting for a while and is ready to provoke Donghua on a dual. In like a few seconds, Daonghua defeats him. But knowing Chiwu... I bet he won’t just give up like that. So they just forget about tricks and go at each other. While sparring, Fengjiu falls from Donghua’s waist belt and he shields her into some kind of bubble. She took back her real appearance. Then there’s some kind of tornado coming out of nowhere that pulls Fengjiu and Yan Chiwu away.

When she wakes up, she’s so happy that he called her little Bai. Then Yan Chiwu also wakes up. So they got caught into the Fanyin grotto of the Biyi Bird clan. They are kind of stuck together there. Well, they bicker a little at each other, but honestly, I think these two will become extremely good friends hahaha. They are somewhat similar, except maybe that Fengjiu is a little bit smarter than Chiwu. Well it isn’t even that Chiwu isn’t smart, I think he’s just too genuine in everything he does. He’s definitely a character I like from this drama. I wish him a happy ending.

Episode twenty-four

He’s not wrong... She’s just in human form. 

That’s an iconic mood.

Zhe Yan’s face turning to slowly look at them both. Lmao. Bai Zhen won’t be marrying anyone any time soon. Haha. 

Yes, Si Ming. Why do you keep glancing over to Donghua? You’re giving this away more than anyone else is. 

I forgot to mention this scene is the novel’s official starting point. 

Of course, Ah Li is here to interrupt his mother’s wedding proceedings. Lol. 

Aye. Bai Zhen was there. I didn’t notice till now. 

*soft chuckle* yes, she does. 

Ah Li becoming the next great philosopher of the Nine Heavens. 

The flower pot was supposed to have hit him in the head. 

Bai Zhan is technically the physical replacement of Bai Qian. Although Bai Qian is still doing what her character does in the novel, it’s just those things are happening off-screen. I don’t mind this replacement at all... I get to stare at his handsome face and his long hair... 

And so it begins... 

She just poured out some deep thoughts in front of her long-time crush. Ah... to be Fengjiu for just a day...

Episode twenty-five

Ah Li... you sweet baby bean. You’ll understand when you’re an adult... 

Donghua is thoroughly amused. We’ve also established Fengjiu isn’t the greatest at babysitting. 

How quickly does TV Donghua fall in love with Fengjiu? Lmaoo. 

She’ll be able to start a fashion collection with purple robes soon. Her first fashion show will premiere in Autumn 2020 with Donghua’s purple robes as the main exclusive.

Things really do go from 0 to 100 real quick with Donghua and Fengjiu. 

Donghua with the clap back. He ain’t taking sh*t from no one. 

Ah Li, the greatest matchmaker in all of the Nine Realms, will he be able to overcome his biggest obstacle yet? Keep watching to see how his tale will unfold. 

And at this moment. Bai Fengjiu realises she has f*cked up for the umpteenth time in front of Donghua.

I can’t believe the drama finished airing today (if you bought the episodes, I’m not too sure how it works) some people already know how this ends... Never mind that, let’s head in!

Episode thirty-two

Ah Li! My child... I’ve missed you. 

Fengjiu is saying this to Xiao Yan but imagine her saying it to Donghua. I can’t stop laughing. He would have his pouty face on, ‘me? making trouble? never.’

Someone’s getting jealous.

Mood. 

The evil queen is a chaotic bisexual. Love it. 

This is just standard daily Fengjiu & Donghua here, even after they leave the Valley.

What an iconic way to kiss. 

And at this moment Donghua realised he needed to bed Fengjiu.  Donghua’s brain *probably*: Bedroom, now. 

You cannot tell me this face doesn’t say he’s in love with her. 

I wish alcohol would work this way. It doesn’t work for me.

Donghua is just barging into rooms now. Okay. Sir.

I love how Donghua has big massive white blobs when there’s barely a mark on Fengjiu. 

I scream more for these moments than I did for the mortal arc. Ahhhhh.... Fengjiu just throw it all away and be with him.

Someone is getting petty, hmmm, Donghua. 

I don’t like the way she’s smiling, she’s about to deliberately fck up, isn’t she?

Episode twenty-six

If rumours aren’t circulating at any point in this show & the novel then something is wrong. lmao. 

Uh... Fengjiu... Honey. You may want to look behind you. 

Guys! You just added more fire to these rumours that Donghua has a woman. You’re way ahead of your timeline. 

Clearly, Lian Song has not met the wonderful Lan Wangji (The Untamed) 

I forgot she was back... This is how irreverent to the plot she is, well, lack of trouble she brings to the story I should say. I don’t know why but I think this actress could do really well in a light-hearted comedy. I just want to see her in a different role, her character here and in Ashes of Love are very similar.

Ah... Cheng Yu, you’re as much as a fool as Wei Ying was... (I don’t where all these The Untamed references are coming from. Man. That show must be really sticking with me.)

Fengjiu, you sweet baby bean, you’ve said it all and he has no clue.

LmAO... It would have been even better if they showed the actual scene too. I probably would have been on the floor. You could get away with not even needing Bai Qian & Ye Hua as well, I can just imagine it...

What goes on Fengjiu’s head for her to think turning into a handkerchief would be a good idea to avoid Donghua? You can bet Donghua’s gonna mess around with you for doing that. 

Episode twenty-seven

The way Zhong Lin is just taken away like that.  Lian Song’s f**cking looking petrified at what he’s done like ‘wtf did I do’ Donghua’s giving the supportive ‘I approve’ thumbs up. Lmao. Some of these scenes are pure gold.

This is your own fault, boo-boo. They’re just trying to lure you out. 

Imagine this scene but with Bai Gungun. Ah! The possibilities. The devastating fluffy domesticity it would bring with it. *sigh* 

these special effects... 

Shall we say yes for dramatisation? 

Regretting turning into that handkerchief now, aren’t you? She probably isn’t tbh. Most likely has ‘must protect donghua, the love of my life’ mode on.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 26

Siming and Fengjiu are gossiping together. Rumours has it lately that Donghua hides a beautiful maiden in his palace. Siming says that it’s a good thing then Fengjiu cut ties with him back then, really that Donghua isn’t a guy to date with an habit like that haha. However, at the idea that Donghua likes a girl, she’s kind of jelly. She gave up, right? Right? Haha. So they think it may be Zhihe, but since she was away for a long time, Siming thinks it’s not likely to be her. Then he tells her Lian Song saw Donghua in the bath rooms with that girl about a week ago and Fengjiu chokes on her grapes. Wooops, that would kind of be me? Other rumours has it that Chengyu is the secret daughter of Donghua hahaha. I love it. We need more gossiping please!

According to the information Chengyu gave her about Donghua’s schedule, the next day Fengjiu is going to find back her lost bangle. Ahli wants to go with her but she won’t take him. Riceball is angry that Xiaojiu isn’t taking him with like usual and says that lately Fengjiu has been so busy and weird. She then pretends to be Bai Qian looool It’s so fake, but oh well, she gets in. She thinks there’s just him but there are actually plenty of people and then she asks about her bangle hahaha. She’s so embarrassed, He says he does have her things. He even carries them with him hahaha. I mean... Oh that girl forgot her stuff, I will keep it in my sleeves just in case I see her around hahaha!

She tries to escape, but he still gives it to her haha. I think he had a little fun teasing her. The next day, Lian Song teases a little bit Donghua about it and wonders if he’s interested in Xiaojiu because she’s also a red fox and right she comes by with Bai Zhen taking a walk and Donghua can’t keep his eyes off her. Lian Song asks him why does he pay her so much attention and Donghua says he thinks she’s funny/interesting, a mix of the two.

Zhihe  dances for the Emperor and he’s very pleased by her talent so he decides it’s time for her, after hundreds of years to come back to the palace. He asks Donghu’s opinion, but he doesn’t care at all, he didn’t even look at her dance. Then Fengjiu laughed a little and she has to explain herself. She felt relieved for Zhihe that she could come back so easily, but also felt sad for those in her situation that don’t have any special talent.

Lian Song plays the flute for Chengyu and it makes butterflies appear. The special effects for that scene were really beautiful. She then tells him she has no feelings for Zheyan, she just admires him. Then he takes her hand and asks (well it’s more like affirming) if she likes him. She takes her hand away. She says she doesn’t. but clearly does.

Fengjiu is drunk again. Donghua comes and asks her what she’s doing. She says she’s drinking juice, but it’s actually alcohol. He asks her if she remembers the way back home, but she doesn’t really know. He says he’s going to take her back, but she tells him he’s a liar. Last time he said to wait for him while he gives a lesson to someone but he never came back for her. Then he asks her if she’s not mistaken on the person and she says she’s not and tells him he’s a bad person. Because he said she was just a pet and when she left, he didn’t even looked for her. He doesn’t remember that, of course she was a spiritual fox then. Then she faints in his arms.

She wakes ups hugging Donghua’s clothing. That last night, she was so drunk that Donghua had to send her home, but when he tried to leave, she wouldn’t let go of his outfit and they couldn’t wake her, he could only leave his clothe with her before leaving. He couldn’t spend the night there and there were no clothes for him to wear, so Ahli had to go ask his mom and dad, but they were sleeping deeply so he had to talk very loudly and everybody heard what he said. Fengjiu is extremely embarrassed.

Then Ahli brings her a letter from Bai Yi, saying it’s about time she goes back to Qingqiu. Ahli is sad hearing that news, he doesn’t want Fengjiu to leave so soon. Cute little boy. She promises to go have fun with him as soon as she’s done sending back Donghua’s clothes. She doesn’t get in the  palace and throws it at him over the wall. He thinks it’s funny I guess. Then Zhihe asks him about it but he just says that the party is over, she should go back now. She’s shook.

As Fengjiu and Ahli comes out to play, there are almost pooped on by birds. Then Zhihe comes to asks questions and Ahli tries to protect Fengjiu, but that Zhihe pushes Ahli on the ground. Wow. The nerves. Ahli is Yehua’s son, not somebody to meddle with. Fengjiu just pushes Zhihe and she lands right in the birds’ poop hahaha. I’m a child, I’m laughing to a poop joke and I am not ashamed of it. At all.

Donghua is really something. He’s always lying somewhere. Can he stay up? Am I the one who noticed that he’s like, never standing on his feet? Hahaha. It’s okay, it’s because he’s ooooooold x) Ahli comes to tell what he learnt while spying on people. They are having bets about Donghua. People are betting whether he’s going to marry Zhihe or Fengjiu haha. So far, people think he will most likely marry Zhihe. Learning that they don’t bet on her, she gives Ahli a lot of money to bet on her. And Ahli is like, I am still so young and you are teaching me to cheat? Then she says no, we do it because we can’t lose Qingqiu’s honour haha. I just can’t (; And Donghua is just behind them hahahaha. Ahli says that she never gets the first ranking on the exam and she says that Ahli never is the last name because he’s not studying buddhism. Then Ahli says, well Donghua is really good at it and Fengjiu is like that’s because he’s not normal haha. Well the word she uses is really pejorative here, and it would be used to describe perverts too, so it’s funny. To me at least.

When Fengjiu sees Donghua, she hides in a handkerchief. Donghua takes it saying he has been looking for it for a while. Ahli seeing him taking it says to be more careful, the handkerchief might hurt haha. He’s so cute. Lian Song says this is a girl’s thing, how could it belong to Donghua. Then Donghua says, that some people called him 变态(biàntài) (abnormal, pervert) and of course he would use that kind of thing haha. He so knows that Fengjiu is in there. They both leave little Ahli alone and Fengjiu’s torture is starting! Wooooops!

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 25

So Donghua invites Xiaojiu to sit with him. Wow. That’s progress. He asks her if she was scared to see him and she’s like, no I was happy and embarrassed. Then he pours tea for her and she’s really clumsy. She excuses herself for being so clumsy. Lian Song sees Donghua with a girl and is jealous that he would spend time with a girl when he’s too lazy to come and see his new artefact. He wonders also why is he so interested in that girl. Siming says no wonder he’s interested. Girls are usually hanging on to him while this one is trying to avoid him. It’s normal it rises his curiosity.

Ahli is just the cutest. Xiaojiu takes him out to play and he complains about how bad his father is. He remembers he fell asleep in his mother’s palace, but woke in his own palace, he says his dad lied to him and brought him back so he can keep Bai Qian to himself haha. Such a cute kid.

There was a problem with the flower show Lian Song and Chengyu worked on together and once it’s done, they both try to protect each other. Yeah, Chengyu doesn’t like Lian Song haha. They are cute. the Emperor doesn’t punish them though.

There is a beast frightening people and Fengjiu sends Ahli to seek his mom for help. Zhihe is right next to it, but doesn’t do anything to help. Fengjiu asks her why doesn’t she use her rain power, but Zhihe doesn’t say anything, so Fengjiu jumps in to fight with the fire beast. Fengjiu can’t fight it openly, she knows she won’t  be able to win so she distracts and almost falls down the cliff. Donghua’s song. He came to save Fengjiu. And well, everybody. He beats that beast in like three seconds not even. Since she got wet during the fight, Donghua gave her his clothes haha. But then she doesn’t want it because then she would have to see him again and cause him trouble. So he says well keep it as a souvenir, you don’t need to give it back haha. She’s like no it’s not what I mean. So he’s well then wash it and give it back to me. She really doesn’t want to take it, but he won’t take a no as an answer. He says he saved her life, she could at least wash his clothe hahaha. God. That’s better. I hope it keeps on being like this. Then she remembers the time they spent together when she was just a fox. Then he asks her why did she save them and she says as the heir of the Fox tribe, if she sees people in danger and doesn’t help, how can she keep the trust of her people?

Bai Qian keeps on getting blind dates for Xiajiu. That’s actually funny, like a pool of men is waiting for her and she tries to run away from them. They all run after her. She ends up hiding in a bath place. And she decides to take a bath lol Just... Oh water and a big bath! I am going to get in even though I don’t whose this place is. Dong Hua is like inside and knows she’s there. He throws clothes at her when Lian Song opens the door. Omg. I just can’t believe what I saw haha. He gives her her clothes and then hands out to her her underwear. Hahaha, she’s so embarrassed and he’s still that ice cold face. Is he doing it on purpose to tease her? But Qingti’s bangle? Where is it? Yup, she forgot it.

Lian Song teases him and says that he gets married to Fengjiu, Donghua will have to call Yehua uncle hahaha. I love how then he teases him about Chengyu.

I must say I love the relationship between Xiaojiu and Ahli. Even though Fengjiu is older, Ahli is definitely the big brother there haha. <3 They are so cute. When she hears something happened to Chengyu she runs to meet her friend and while they drink tea together, she finally realizes she lost her bangle. She gets very anxious and tries to look for it all around. Chengyu asks her if she didn’t put it somewhere the day before and she realizes she left it in the bathing room.
