Your brother's on his own
"You can justify, oh yes you can/You've got the microphone/ Tell them dust is dust and men are men/ And men all act alone/ You're not your brother's keeper now/ Your brother's on his own . . ."
Aimee Mann, "Brother's Keeper"
That's right. I'm so angry I'm applying lyrics to all the white conservative Christians who are rejoicing at Zimmerman's acquittal.
It's like they're asking Jesus, "Lord, who is my brother?"
And then Jesus says "everybody." And they dance around the Fox-news idol of Jesus they prefer and sing "la-la-la can't hear you."
But then "everybody" means I have to forgive my stone-hearted friends. Because Trayvon Martin was my brother, but those ignorant jerks are too (and so is George Zimmerman).
--I'm working on forgiveness. I'm not there yet.
