Sydney was a fluke.

That's what Rocker is telling himself as he heads in to work three days after landing back in Los Angeles. He's gone through his mail, caught up with his team, eaten at his favorite Vietnamese food truck. It's not like he hasn't dated since the separation and then the divorce; he doesn't discriminate who he goes out with, so long as they're hot and have interesting hobbies. There are a handful of people he can hook up with any time, too, no strings attached.

And yet, the moment he sees Deacon Kay pulling on his t-shirt, all Rocker can think of is Sydney, and the heat of that same body now covered by fabric.

When Tan greets Rocker, Deacon freezes for a second, but he turns and smiles like he always does - friendly, casual, nothing to indicate that he had ever gasped in shocked pleasure into Rocker's mouth when they first had their hands on each other's dicks - and pats Rocker on the arm before heading out.

Rocker shakes his head, a small curl to his lips. He probably won't ever find out why Deacon jumped him that evening, and that's fine by him. He'd enjoyed it, and he hopes Deacon will look back on that night with pleasure rather than guilt.

It's hard to erase the memory of Deacon naked under him, though. There was something charmingly innocent about the older man as he made out with Rocker, and when his hands slid to Rocker's waistband, he'd hesitated, right up until Rocker rubbed his erect cock against Deacon's. Then it had been a race to see who can get the other naked first.

While it did hurt his feelings a little when Deacon fled to the bathroom when their alarms rang, Rocker had understood why the older man panicked. It's not as if Rocker doesn't feel slightly guilty either, since he does like Annie in the few interactions he's had with her.

Today is going to be challenging.

"Rocker's joining us today to cover for Street," says Hondo. Rocker bumps the offered fist.

Luca elbows him playfully. "You sure you're up to it? I remember you get really bad jetlag."

"Two whole days of sleep does wonders," Rocker says, and adds with a smirk, "Besides, even at 75%, pretty sure I'm good enough for 20-squad."

The chorus of friendly boos dies down when Hicks joins them. "SWAT assistance has been requested for a human trafficking situation. One of the girls escaped and was shot dead in the middle of a mall, but she was able to tell a manicurist a location before that." The commander calls up a floor plan. "It's a warehouse, which is how the suspects are able to hide the girls they smuggle into the country." He provides the necessary information and the team rolls out.

In Black Betty, Rocker is seated opposite Hondo and the two of them discuss tactics, while Deacon chimes in occasionally. Deacon and Rocker are to secure the back of the warehouse with Powell; Hondo, Luca and Tan have the front.

"Priority is the girls' safety," Hondo says. "We have limited intel, act accordingly. Powell, you're with two of the best. Rise to their standards."

"Lucky you, Powell. Rocker's ego is big enough to shield both you and Deacon from unfriendly fire," Tan quips.

"It's not ego if I've the skills to back it up, Tan," Rocker retorts playfully.

Another chorus of friendly jeers and taunts fill the inside of Black Betty.

In the midst of the tomfoolery, Deacon and Rocker glance at each other, and a tiny smile curves Deacon's lips. Rocker grins cockily.

Luca in the driver's seat calls out, "Fifteen seconds!"

Rocker settles into his gear, feeling the comforting weight of his vest and helmet wrapped about him. Here we go.
