redraw of my first piece of ship art (YES. THIS IS SHIP ART.) of these 2. (original + a rant under cut)

i used to have a more semi-realistic style that i ended up ditching because:

1. it took forever (the original took 16 hours while the redraw took 6. though that may have also been because it was my first time drawing either of them.)

and 2. it just really wasnt fun. drawing was just a super draining experience.

im scared that im gonna get screamed at for "art regression" or whatever because, at first glance, the bottom one is more visually competent and. mature? but i think i really improved with coloring and shading and anatomy and just generally. enjoying myself. yeah.
