Yes!! This is what I’ve been saying all along. It’s not about the weight loss, not really, it’s about binge eating disorder. It’s about the pain and suffering and distress, and how you turn to food to the point where it becomes a harmful habit. The most dangerous thing about Patty’s eating is not the fact that she’ll gain weight, it’s that she uses it to escape her own feelings, and it makes her consume everything in huge amounts, which is not only dangerous to her physically, but emotionally too.

Everyone who says this show is about how losing weight makes everything better is 100% wrong, because it has made her life worse, because she has yet to contront the actual problem: her harmful coping mechanisms for dealing with her emotions.
