Bon anniversaire to Paul Poiret, born April 20th, 1879. You might guess from the images here, Paul Poiret was an early 20th century French fashion designer. What you may not know is how influential he was in changing the silhouette of women’s fashion away from the corseted restrictions of prior centuries. These stenciled fashion spreads (in a technique called pochoir) were from Les Choses de Paul Poiret (1911) and illustrated by Georges LePape.
