Hello! This is a askblog for Nova the Sun (☀️❣️) a main toon whose greatest joy is being up and on the go! She’s very enthusiastic and excitable compared to her brother Astro. Despite being impulsive and seemingly endless in her energy, she truly just wants to spend time with her friends.

Someone knocks on the door to Nova’s room, a familiar coffee-and-caramel scent filling the area as Trick steps through, closing the door behind him.

“Nova? Are you okay?”

… at least nova hasn’t gotten herself into anything dangerous. She was sitting on her bed, Astro plushie in her arms.

She seems to perk up at the presence of Trick, reaching up to him, glowing a little brighter. Thankfully she isn’t downright blinding.

Trick slowly pads over, sitting down next to her on the bed. He…honestly, he has no idea what he’s doing. Hells, he’s usually the one being regressed to a younger state- he has no idea how to take care of a kid, especially a kid that was a fully-grown adult the last time he saw her!

“Uh…you okay, bud?”

Well, she’s not dead or crying so trick is doing something right.

She looks up at him, eyes filled with wonder. She continues to reach up at him, making grabby hands towards his head. She seems to want something. Maybe his googles?

Trick cracks a small smile, picking up the tiny celestial Toon and holding her up. "You want to see my goggles? Is that it?" The canine Toon's mismatched eyes sparkle with amusement as Nova reaches towards his face.

She squeals a little bit, it seems like the right answer. She’s fascinated by the shininess, so it seems. She reaches towards them, before something else catches her attention- the two fluffy ears.

Her tiny hands reach for one ear, YANKING it.

For a baby she is awfully strong.

Trick yelps in pain, jerking his head away from Nova as he lets out an involuntary growl. He knows he shouldn't growl at a kid- the humans had beaten that into his skull who knows how many times- but he wasn't expecting that, okay? "Oh- fu- fudge nuggets-"

He looks down at Nova with a worried expression on his face, hoping desperately that he didn't scare or anger the stellar Toon with his sudden growling.

… she doesn’t seem startled, just looking up at him. She hardly saw it as a threat, though the sudden jerking did throw her off. She just… stared for a moment, as if debating her next course of action. She could try and grab and pull on Trick’s ears again, but she felt merciful.

She just, put a hand on his snout.

Trick sighs with relief, chuckling as Nova boops his nose. He raises a paw-like hand, booping her back- sure, she doesn't really have an external nose like he does, but anything can be booped if one puts their mind to it! "Boooop!"

She returns the gesture with a quicker tap on the nose, giggling and squirming a bit. Yep, she calm. Oddly calm for a baby who was most known for causing chaos.

Nova glanced around for a second, as if thinking her next move. She eyed a vent. Now to get over there…

She points towards the vent. She DEFINITELY doesn’t have any horrible ideas!

Trick's gaze follows Nova's finger, his eyes narrowing as he chuckles and shakes his head. "Uh-uh! Silly star, you know I'm not letting you up in the vents! Who knows what kind of chaos you'd cause like this?" The coyote Toon pats Nova's head.

She continues to point at the vent, turning her body to try and wriggle towards it.

She’s babbling some nonsense for it. She REALLY wants to go in the vents. She’s determined to go into the vents.

Why the hell does she want in there? Who knows. Baby nova has never been the most, understandable thing.

Maybe it’s possible to turn her attention away from the vents…

She scoots over and grabs the plushie, a bit soothed for the moment. Hugging it, she’s concluded it’s not the same, but at least she’s not crying for right now. She just wants to see if Astro is okay or not.

Nova lifts her head, snorting with confusion. It takes her a few seconds to process the ask, realizing what it entails.

In the place where Nova was sitting, was a tiny star sits. Its glow is a lot fainter, less orange and more pale yellow ish. It blinks, looking around. Astro wasn’t there. Astro is always there! Where was he?!

Nova sighs, at least she’s not burning like she was a few seconds ago.

“ … not now squeakers… I think I just need time to myself, like to, decompress. “

She’s burying her face further into the pillow.

Nova wishes she could just sleep things off.

Unfortunately that is a trait only her brother seems to possess. She walks to her room rather quickly, not wanting to accidentally blind someone walking by, she’s glowing like a furnace right now, probably hot to the touch as well.

She walks into her room and slams the door. She breathes shakily for a moment, looking down at the plushie in her hand. She chucks it at the wall, watching as it flopped down onto the ground. That honestly didn’t help her at all, in fact, it only made her feel a little worse.

Flopping onto her bed, Nova presses her face into the pillow, letting out a muffled scream. If she could maul someone she would. The glow intensified before snuffing out into a dim shimmer. She just lies there.

God she wishes she found sleep as easy as her brother found it.

When the elevator door opens, nova steps out quickly, practically speed walking over to the shop’s desk. She pauses, not immediately seeing dandy. That’s strange- she’s used to seeing him over there…

She shakes her head, just knocking on the desk. She’s not the brightest and doesn’t think to look down.

“ … dandy. Hello- I… I need to return something.”

She cringes at how reluctant she sounds… though that’s fair, she hasn’t been able hold a conversation with dandy since, what happened.

There was a light scraping noise as he sat up from where he had been hiding, he of course, still looked like shit. He set his head on the desk, now having to look slightly up at Nova, "hm..? Oh hi Nova," he yawned again, "what is it you need?"

Nova has practiced what she was gonna say for about 10 whole minutes, but the words caught up in her throat. Up until now she had opted to try and ignore Dandy. She was angry, yes, they all were, but unlike the others, she couldn’t bring herself to hate or loathe like the others. Her free hand, resting by her side, balls up into a fist. She’s not really frustrated at dandy, more so at herself. Why is she even doing this- WHY did she think this was a good idea-?!

“ … I’ve come to return something. I don’t need it anymore-“

She placed the object on the desk. It was a celestial themed plushie, clearly well loved. It has been a gift in a time long past.

… jeez. Dandy looked a little worse for wear today. There is an odd sense of pity in her chest, which flickered into her expression despite her trying to keep a cold face.

He tilted his head to see what it was, "I figured it was only a matter of time," he yawned, "so, which twisted were you wanting research for in return for this lil guy?"

He sat up a little looking more professional, however still just as run through the mud because of how tired he was.

Nova frowns. Part of her wants to grab the plushie back. She still slept with it sometimes, especially after a rough nightmare or two. It smells like lavender. But some part of her grumbles at her. She needs to stop being a baby. The fact she’s drawing this out makes her feel pathetic.

However… she’s confused when dandy asks about what twisted she wants to know about… this wasn’t a trade- or at least she didn’t think it was.

“ oh! Uh- I didn’t know that was part of it-“

Nova had no intentions of going on any runs. Not that she was needed really. She eyes the plushie.

God now it’s akaward. Good job nova!

“ … I wanted to see how you’ve been- it’s been awhile-“

"If someone is forcing you to talk to me, you don't have to listen to them, we both know you don't want to talk to me, the only person that does is Goob (and Squeakers, but still)," He gently pushed the plush to the edge of the desk, towards Nova.

“ no one is forcing me-“

Nova corrected. Her arms crossing. She doesn’t move to grab the plushie, even if she wants to. She wants to kick herself. She’s being such a baby.

“ and I just, I don’t know- wanted to talk to you? I don’t know why- it just- hurt a lot to ignore you.”

She’s more frustrated at herself than an anything. Why was this so hard. She grumbled.

"I cannot believe that you're doing this willingly, you look uncomfortable."

He set his head back down on the desk, not looking at her, moreso looking past her into the almost empty lobby.

Why does dandy get to act like the victim of all this? He chose to do it. It frustrates Nova to hell in back. She honestly felt in a worst mood now than before.

She kinda wants to scream. But she would rather not hurt anyone’s ears.

“ look- I -“

Her fingers rub her temple.

“ I don’t hate you. I don’t know why- I just physically can’t-I’m angry- we all are- but-“

she takes the plushie back, nearly snatching it like it was going to be taken from her.

“ … why did you do it, dandy? “

He looked at her, tired, "I didn't mean to, but you don't care, despite what you said, you hate me, damn near everyone does," he waved dismissively, "no matter what I say, what I do, I'm a monster, aren't I?"

"Do you think I wanted this to happen?" He sighed, "I really didn't"

He flopped backwards from the desk across the small room with a loud thud, "... I wish everything could go back to normal, but I guess this is the new normal for me."

"Maybe it can go back to normal for the rest of you one day."

“… I already said I don’t hate you. “

“ …are you just going to wallow in self pity forever?”

Nova sighs. God she wishes she never came out here. She just wants to, she doesn’t know, hit someone! But she’s above that. She ends up saying a lot more than she means to, her glow intensifies, almost blinding.

“ that’s not healthy…. I don’t know- maybe instead of hiding behind your desk- you could actually try to be better! Yeah nobody likes you- but maybe you could actually try and change that- you caused all this!! Maybe instead of just sitting there are letting things get thrown at you you- I don’t know! Help find the cure?? But nooo- I’m supposed to feel bad- god dammit dandy why is it so hard to be your friend-“

Nova stops herself before she can say worse. She squeezes the plushie a bit.

She wishes things were like they were back before this whole ichor operation. She wishes she could just close her eyes and act like this is a bad dream. She looks almost sympathetic.

“ … I should go- I’m sorry for wasting your time-“

She is quick to turn around, leaving just a bit to quickly for her usual demeanor.
