So Prime wants to focus on their other fantasy show, especially given their contract with the Tolkien estate. Fine.

It would make a lot of sense for Sony, the actual rights holders, to still want to make use of their ip especially since the show has momentum and a following right now, and take the show to a different streamer. And Apple TV does make a lot of sense as the best option, given their catalog of originals that are currently very sci fi heavy, to pick up a fantasy that can compete with house of the dragon and the rings of power.

So here’s hoping Sony and Apple TV agree. And we can help that process along and POLITELY ask them to consider it through every medium we can (such as socials like YouTube, Bluesky, and Instagram).

fjord sees a group of teenagers beating up a kid and walks away because it hits his ptsd too hard for him to make them stop even though they'd definitely run screaming from him. nott's getting the shakes from alcohol withdrawal every day. caleb's falling into horse shit and crawling around the bleachers of a burning tent that has a monster and people dying in it, single-mindedly chasing spell componets instead of helping. yasha's in mind control hell. jester keeps talking to her invisible friend that got her exiled from nicodranas. beau's got an important mission or whatever but she got it because she's a nobody and she's only with the cobalt soul at all cause her dad hates her. essek's starting a war for personal gain and got slapped by his sick mom for blaspheming. the only one of them who isnt a total loser is molly, who fucks and is hot and loved by everybody at the carnival, except the carnival burned down and people are dead and molly killed the monsterified version of his father figure and doesn't understand where his fighting skill came from. awesome. they're gonna save the world.

I think this is a good time to say that just because Essek in the show wants to study the beacon to also cure his mother, that doesn’t make his motivation for stealing it any less selfish or bad. Especially considering that Deirta seems to have accepted what’s happening to her already. The only reason she’s hiding from the queen is because Essek is the one that can’t accept her condition, so she’s basically just humoring his request to wait until she probably will not be able to anymore. What Essek did actively goes against her beliefs and wishes, and she would be livid if she knew, but he doesn’t care, because he doesn’t believe in the Luxon and just views it as the thing that made his mother sick and that is probably gonna be the downfall of his people since they can’t stop viewing it as a religious relic.

I have a hard time saying I ship Thaisha and Hal, not because I don’t like them, but I feel like shipping implies some level of uncertainty or room for exploration, and I am NOT uncertain about Hal and Thaisha. They’re complex exes and coparents who still make out and match heart beats to each other. I cannot add anything better to this dynamic. I can only sit back and watch with glee.

I love critical role’s commitment to bits started in episodes several real years ago that you would only get if you watched a specific ad read for a specific campaign 2 episode, and have now been so removed from their original context the joke exists mostly in the referential. doing some rewatching of the Campaign 4 overture and having some emotions about the power of the brothers Fang to reshape the lives of everyone they touch

the same spark, used to start very different fires. god, being in a room with these two must've been like staring at the sun.

Hal is set in such a fascinating position in the narrative that is difficult to define but it makes me crazy. Of all the cast he seems by far the most normal: he's a soft-spoken artist, a community staple but not wealthy, he fought in a war once but that's long behind him, he's a loving dad. Yet he has this gravity to him that so many of the other PCs seem to bend around through no will or intention of his own. I know his art is a big portion of that, but I wonder if it's not necessarily about his art in and of itself, but what it (and Hal by extension) represents: beauty, culture, freedom, history, self-expression and determination, all of these things this world has been struggling so hard for, first during the oppression of the Shapers, and then the damaged world and power grabs of the Sundered Houses in the aftermath. The people closest to Hal (Thjazi, Thaisha, Azune, even Bolaire to an extent) all regard him with a certain degree of protectiveness; Thjazi kept him out of his dealings despite Hal being the older brother, Azune sees it as wrong that Hal has had to pick up a blade. It can often feel like art and creation belong to peacetime, that it's one of the things that we must fight to protect. But art can have teeth too. Sometimes it's an even more potent weapon than actual blades, and I'm sincerely hoping that that's the role Hal is going to serve going forward.
