To your surprise, the highblood seems PRETTY CHILL about it so far, but you know better than to let your guard down around a ticking time bomb. “YEs.” He says as he pokes at a small bottle with a claw tip. Kalleu MADE these? He must have captured them, Kalleu was obviously much more powerful then he let on. Where the tiny trolls and crewed the vessels still inside? Did they know they were trapped? Where they already dead? These were only a few of the many questions he had about it as he moved along the walls. 

“GRubsauser….” He mumbles to himself as he contemplates the vastness of Kalleu’s ability. “YOu might be more powerful then even SHeazn.”

"Uh huh..." The highblood seemed rather simple...either that or Shinii was just as amused with minature seafaring vessles as he himself had been. In any case, Kalleu wasted no time in darting over to his husktop, nearly knocking his desk over with his weight as typed furiously, his brows knit in concentration.

“AS SHeazn told me once, ‘I’Ve tried nothing, and I’M ALl outta ideas!’” He retorts happily, though he didn’t actually get the saying it was similar to the situation at the time. “YOu wont learn how to be just any troll, KAlleu. YOu’ll learn how to be a GRand HIghblood, and I LIve in the middle of the tundra, so you wont have to worry about to much traffic!” He reassures.

When they get back inside Shinii sets Kalleu down gently, and undoes his own coat a little as he looks around more. “WOw you gotta a lot of useless stuff. PIles of it even!” He seemed impressed as he looked at all the anchers and tiny ships in the bottles. “HOw’d you get so many ships?” He looks back at him, his eyes wide and his face serious. “DId you steal all these ships?”

Despite Shinii's valiant effort at reassuring him, Kalleu didn't feel very assured. He was set on the floor, and right away he went to protectively clutching a number of his belongings to his chest."+heyre no+ useless..." he insists, bitter and offended sounding. There was nothing useless about his collection of miniature seafaring vessels.

"No+ really, no. I didn+ s+eal +hese, I made +hem. Im good a+ i+" It was one of the very few things that the lowblood was good at, and that much was made evident by the way Kalleu's cheeks were dusted with a light caramel blush.

Said lusus finally moves up and around Kalleu like a happy cat, letting out a deep rumbling purr. Shinii snorts agian, waving off Kalleu’s complaints. “NOnesense! IT WOrks however I WAnt it to work!” He dismisses. Wrapping an arm around the smaller troll he pulls him into a nonconsensual side hug. 

“I AM GOing to teach you how to be a better troll! YOu’ll be spitting out DRones in no time under my watchful care!” He promises, patting Kalleu on the chest. “WE CAn make snow trolls, and hunt together and..ehehehe…curl up in our recupracoons!” So lewd! His purple blood flushing to his grey cheeks at the thought. 

“WAit til SHeazn hears about this!” He throws Kalleu over his shoulder and marches off back to the others hive.

Curling up in a recupracoon actually sounded pretty good right about then…Damnit, no Kalleu! Stay focused here.

"Spi++ing ou+ drones¿" He was easily lifted off of his feet and slung over the other troll's shoulder with a displeased grunt. "+hanks bu+ no +hanks, highblood. Don+ be a bulgehuffing re+ard abou+ +his, you CAN+ make me a be++er +roll, Ive +ried, okay¿ I'd rather jus+ hide anyway…I mean, any +roll withou+ a lusus ge+s culled, righ+¿ And I've been hiding ou+ here in the coun+ryside my whole life, so if I lef+ here, +hey'd be more likely to find ou+ abou+ me, righ+¿ +hink abou+ i+! His argument had clearly gone unheard however, judging from how Shinii had yet to put him down.  So this was what his life had been reduced to. Years of avoiding general troll inanity ruined by a HIGHBLOOD within a mere few hours.

It was true, Shinii had no idea why Kalleu was even still alive! Obviously he should have been eaten by now by something, the fact that this snug little valley had housed and sheltered him without a lusus was still rather impressive. But the Drones always find you, no matter what. Shinii frowned, his ears twitching. “YEah, it does.” He agrees. 

He finally stands up and pulls Kalleu to his feet by the scruff of his neck. “I AM PRobably going to regret this, but I’m taking you as my Matesprit.” He says at last, grinning as he shows his fangs. “AS YOur highblood you have no say in the matter, but at least you’ll stay alive longer. YOu have 3 days to pack, before the DRones show up.” He drops him onto his feet. “MY LUsus will remain with you for now, to make sure you get ready to leave your hive behind. I WIll head back to mine and prepare for your stay.” 

Shinii’s heart beat with a need to protect the lowblood, he was his now and no Drone or other Troll was going to get their grubby hands on him! But why he was helping him was strange, he’d probably get made fun of my other Highbloods, but he didn’t care. At least he was getting a quadrant filled!

Kalleu's atrocious sniveling came to an abrupt end as he was suddenly hoisted off of his feet by the larger troll. "W-wha+¿" He sputtered in reply, his knees buckling clumsily as he was dropped back onto the ground. Oh, no no no, he wasn't just going to LEAVE his hive! Not within 3 days! What about all of his stuff!?

"Swee+ mo+her grub! L-le+s not play makebelieve games abou+ +his, Shinii! I didn+ wriggle ou+ of a slime puddle yes+erday, I know how quadran+s work and jus+ claiming dibs is SO no+ how +hey work."

He looked to Shinii's lusus for approval and his head sunk into his shoulders as it simply stared back at him in a way that warned him to comply, it's eyes chilling and reflective.

“OKay, you think what you want then.” Shinii grumps from the shore, crossing his arms. But he tilts his head, Kalleu was precious actually. With his to small clothes and his little fang and horns. He heard that horns were sensitive to touch, but it was like grabbing someones butt. You just didn’t do that. 

“NO, THat is wrong. THey will come, probably soon too. SO YOu better find someone to kill a bucket with, you aren’t a grub anymore. SOon we’ll be adults, so we gotta act like them.” He walks up to Kalleu at last and shakes his head. “NO. BUt someday soon…I HOpe.” He sits on the shore and hugs his knees. Looking out at the water. “DO YOu have any filled?”

Words were pointless and unheard as the last of his optimism was brutally murdered right before him. 

Not surprisingly, Kalleu interpreted Shinii's advice as a warning of his imminent demise.  It was a damned miracle that the lowblood had managed to live for the seven sweeps that he had, what without having any sort of defense mechanisms to speak of.  He covered his face in both hands, making a high pitched noise of frustration. Hardly an effective method of dealing with his problems, but that had never stopped Kalleu before.

He paused in his noise making only to look pitifully up at the highblood before continuing, blubbering something that sounded like it could have been "Troll society is so dumb." but it was hard to say for sure.

Shinii blinks in surprise as he feels the warmth between them as they bob in the water as his Lusus swims, his legs dragging in the freezing lake. But Kalleu was spared the most room, staying dry, because Shinii could handle the cold. He opens his jacket and Kalleu finds himself wrapped up in a large warm jacket. 

“BEing as cool as an ANcestor is overrated anyways.” The Highblood tells him gently, having developed a keen ear for soft sounds. Being a hunter and all. Shinii might come off as dumb but there was more to him then most seem to realize, and he was far from your average Troll. Bleh. Who needed status quo’s anyways, not him, fuck the Condescense! 

He hugs Kalleu closer and looks out as the shore approaches. “YOu are a good troll, KAlleu.” He tells him.

“Yeah righ+. Im no+ +ha+ s+upid, I know how +troll socie+y works.” Suddenly the dispiritedness was gone, replaced with a bitter childish sort of anger. He wiped at his face with the back of his hand. “Im dispensable, the imperial drones would cull me in a second and you know i+. Every+hing is s+il+ed in the favor of highbloods, you wouldn+ unders+and.” 

Overrated…?

“Look, forge+ about+ I said any+hing, Le+s just go +o the food car+ or some+hing.” Anything was better than embarrassing himself any more than he already had.

“YOu wont be culled.” He growls, feeling Kalleu move around in his jacket. But he knows its sort of fruitless to try and convince him of that. “BUt you aren’t stupid.” 

He looks down at Kalleu, pushing his goggles up he takes the smaller trolls chin and smiles. “YOu are anything but disposable, and I DO UNderstand. Even HIghbloods have problems, not saying that yours are anywhere near as silly as ours.” He sighs. “KAlleu, once you stop trying to live in your ANcestors shadow, you wont develop. I LIke you, so I wont let you get culled.” He picks the little Troll up under the arms and sets him down on the shore finally, water up around his knees as he stands there, his hood down, letting his hair move around in the night air. 

“LOwbloods are the most diverse and amazing things I HAve ever seen. I LOve everything about you all. FRom the colors of your blood, to your powers, to your lives. I ENvy you, because you can sleep a whole night without hearing the calls for blood.” He frowns a little. “THank you for playing with me, next time I’ll come up with something less…bloody.”

The second he was released and set down Kalleu skittered away from the water. He rubbed under his arms where he had been picked up. "Okay. +ha+ was empowering and all bu+ I really can+ +rus+ any+hing you said. Highbloods are mean+ +o be sneaky and dishonest+ so +try no+ +o +ake it personally." 

His tongue awkwardly licked over the one fang that was just a little too large to fit behind his lips usually.

"Bu+ like I said, don+ worry abou+ i+. +he culling drones don+ even make rounds by my hive very of+en." He shrugged. "Maybe the lowbloods are so insignifican+ +o +hem +ha+ +hey don+ bo+her +o was+e +heir energy." It was nice to think so anyway. "...So you filled any of +hose quadran+s of yours ye+ ¿"

He stops laughing to look down at the nervous little troll holding his horns. “THey weren’t real KAlleu.” He says at last, concern on his face as he pushes up his goggles, his yellow eyes looking the little troll over. “HEy…I AM SOrry..it was just a game.” There is a flickering of life around them and the ship faded and Kalleu found himself on the back of Shinii’s lusus, Shinii sitting close behind him. 

The beast swimming through the black water with its precious cargo. Shinii didn’t know what to do, that was his and Crevans favorite FLARP session. Being Big Goddamn Heros on a pirate ship, so he opts for simply wrapping his fluffy arms around the little troll and holding him tightly. Silent for a time. 

“DOn’t worry.”

The fond memories caused him to forget about the water for a moment and nuzzle a little closer.

Shinii laughs happily as they lay there, other trolls laying dead around them or running for their lives. 

He pushes his hood down as he relaxes, watching the ship sink. He reaches over and pats the other trolls leg as he calmed down. “WE WOn. GOod job.”

He frantically reached up to grab his own horns and hold them tightly in both hands. It seemed to be some sort of calming-down ritual for the lowblood. “DID YOU HAVE +O KILL +HEM¿” It seemed he missed the part where that was troll society in a nutshell. “You could+ PAY ME ENOUGH +o play +HA+ AGAIN.”

“+HIS ISN+ FUN ANYMORE” He shouted, breaking character for likely the hundrenth fucking time that evening. It stopped being fun the moment he was forced near real water with a psychopath.   His arms wobbled under his VERY PRACTICAL weapon of choice, a heavy rusted anchor. He did as he was told, using the sharp edge of the hook to saw at the thick shipping rope until it broke.

When Kalleu steps outside he finds Shinii already walking off towards a huge lake in the distance, his spear over his shoulder. His Lusus yawns near Kalleu, resting in the shade of the little lowbloods hive, licking at his long whiskers. 

Shinii turns to look over his shoulder. “COme on Kalleu. DOn’t hold back, this is going to be fun. THen we can get something to eat!” He waves his spear up over his head.

Kalleu turned to watch Shinii’s lusus for a moment, tugging his shirt down a bit as he did. Must have been weird, having a custodian following you around all the time. He didn’t really remember what it was like. “Bu+…” he frowned, single fang poking over his lower lip more than usual as he did. “Ive go+ plen+y of s+uff +o drink in my hive already…” Sheazn said something once…what was that again? Something about soda not being food? Whatever. “If you say so” fun.  ”Im righ+ behind you!”

The game was terrifyingly intense, they were on a pirate ship being raided by a rival ship, their men were dying around them, colors painting the deck as the water around them roared with a storm. The ship rocking back and forth as they are splashed with water, blood and cut throats were attempting to kill them. 

Shinii was stuck in a spear fight with a large looking troll, laughing as he twisted the weapon from the fools hands and ran him through, green blood splashing up the arms of his white jacket. “CUt the ropes!” He roars in Kalleu’s direction, pointing to the ropes holding the two ships together.

“I AM ALways sure!” He says, giving an excited hiss as he leans down towards the other a little, pulling his goggles back down over his eyes, the slits glow purple for a moment and something in the air makes it suddenly feel very heavy around them. The little troll hearing his heart beat in his ears as a wave of pure terror washes over him for a fraction of a second as Shinii’s teeth glint in the hive light. 

“I HOpe you are ready, because shit is about to get real.” He holds out his hand and his spear appears into his hand, glowing a light blue, almost like an icicle. He turns and like a shadow swoops out the front door like he was never there.

Kalleu waved his arms frantically after the hooded troll as he vanished from view. “Wha+ if I don+ wan+ shi+ +o ge+ real!¿¿” Oh why did he agree to FLARP with a highblood? Everybody with any sense knew that all highbloods were crazy and generally unpleasant to be around. 

Kalleu tugged at his ears nervously, hands then moving up to squeeze the base of his own horns. He was pacing a small circle in the floor. Ge+ in+o charac+er, Kalleu…ge+ in+o charac+er you worthless grub.  ”WAI+ FOR ME” He finally decided he didn’t want to stick around to wait to see what shit that Shinii had been talking about by himself and raced out the open door, forgetting to close it on his way out.

“T..TOol, why I should just beat that smu…” But he stops himself, taking a few deep breaths. It was natural for Trolls to be standoffish, he shouldn’t take it personally. “OF COurse you aren’t scared of pirates, good for you. YOur ancestor sounds like an idiot, but fine.”

“I AM GLad to hear you can care for yourself, that makes my life easier already. I’ll set the difficulty to level 6 then.” He starts typing as he sets the program up more, while he waits for Kalleu to dress.
