Hey it's me again. I'm just wondering what boundaries your ex broke and if you tod him prior? I struggle so much with setting boundaries so if you have advice there too I'd really appreciate. If not I understand.

We’d had extensive conversations about what we could and couldn’t handle. Not just in kink but in just regular everyday life. I grew up in a household where there was a lot of screaming, yelling, throwing things. As a result, I don’t like loud noises, yelling, etc. I’ve raised my voice or snapped at people, but I’ve never yelled at someone in my life because I know how shitty it can feel. I told him to not do those things. If we ever got in an argument and he felt like yelling, go cool off then come back and we’ll work it out. One day he got mad and did EVERYTHING I had asked him not to do. All at once. After breaking up I felt guilty because he wasn’t throwing things AT me, he hadn’t been angry AT me, but my trust was broken. I realized if that ever happened again I would feel afraid for my safety and his. And each time he got mad I would wonder if it would get to that extreme again. In the end you need to do what is right for you. It might hurt. It might be hard, but you need to take care of yourself before you take care of anyone else. I set boundaries and he broke them, so I left. And I’m proud that I cared enough about myself to do that.

IIf you don't mind me asking, why did it take you about a year to move on from your previous relationship? I know everyone heals and moves on at their own pace, but I'm trying to move on from a relationship that ended almost two years ago, and I've been struggling with it.

In my last relationship, I was deeply in love. I fell hard and FAST. That was definitely a process when healing from it, because of how much I loved him I didn't want to let it go. He had a few mental health issues - this was NOT why I broke up with him, but it didn't help the situation. I realized he needed emotional help that I couldn't provide, and he was leaning on me for that help. What ended up happening was he shattered all of my boundaries one day and I decided to get out before things got worse.

The reason it took that long was because the aftermath of a breakup can make it hard to move on. 1) I agonized over if I did the right thing 2) Everywhere I went something reminded me of him 3) I missed him and our life together so much, even though I was the one who ended things.

I'm a slow emotional healer. I hang on to things a lot longer than I should. My best advice is to remind yourself that you are a full person. That was a part of your life, but now your life is different and that's okay. Do things you love alone and with others. Try new things out of your comfort zone. Travel if you can. Go to a resturant you've never tried. Do something bold. And laugh. Make sure to laugh a lot. I started watching comedians on you tube, and this past October, I saw my favorite comedian live. I know the advice "Try new things" and "put yourself out there" isn't new, but it's true and it works.

If you want to find a life partner, you can't force things., but trying things means you're willing to put in the work. I'm back on dating apps, I flirt a lot, I recently gave a waiter at a fancy restaurant my number. I'm trying find the person who is the kinky puzzle piece to my kinky puzzle, but I'm not forgetting to enjoy life in the meantime.
