So as we patiently wait to see what the nations ladies will be wearing on the world famous Ladies Day, we have decided to take a nostalgic look through the ages of the iconic Ladies Day fashions.
1920’s
The Roaring 20’s - The decade which was evolving and inspiring so it’s no surprise this was also in the fashion, with Ladies Day being no exception.
Dropped waistlines and tassels were the order of the day
1930’S
Moving on to the 1930’s – The decadence of the 20’s was long forgotten and fashions became more conservative – But still Ascots finest favored chiffon and lace adorned dresses with hats being a big fashion focus – over sized or perfectly petite cloche hats were the only styles one could be seen in.
1950’s
Moving on to the 1950’s with a return in a big way of more feminine styles making a comeback. Nipped in waists and respectable hemlines gave both allure and subtlety all in the same look.
1960′s
Times were changing and Ladies fashion was becoming much more diverse and starting to push the boundaries - Royal Ascot was no different, relaxed hemlines and bold prints were the statement being made.
1980s
Technology and industry were the focus of the 80’s and with this Power Dressing was born. Shoulder pads, big hair and big hats were the striking looks found all around the race track throughout this decade.
Present Day
Let’s fast forward some more and now with the next generation of Royals we can always count on Kate Middleton for a dose of modern elegance to bring the event up to date but still keeping its formality and class. Also we cannot talk about Royal Ascot without a look back to 2012 when Princess Beatrice finished here outfit with her very own pair Moda in Pelle shoes.
So as Ladies Day at Ascot continues to be a key date in the fashion diary, and even more is becoming the perfect excuse to go out and buy a new dress, hat and of course shoes! We cannot think of a better way a better way to spend the day catching up with friends, enjoying some fizz and of course a flutter!
