For my family and friends, and to those who keep up with me on my Lupus adventure. I've got some update for you! I was constantly praying and waiting patiently for 5 months for a medication to be approved by my insurance and was denied several times. My doctor had to write an appeal for this medication to be approved. The appeal letter was looked at and was passed around all the way to the top of the chain. It was finally approved two weeks ago but this medication was only covered for a very small amount by my insurance. This medication costs $2k a month. It's a monthly medication that I need to suppress my lupus flares (joint/muscle aches and pain, fatigue, Sjögren syndrome, Raynaud's phenomenon, Scleroderma, inflammation of my lungs, heart, and kidneys, etc.). My doctors office were so helpful by telling me that there's a way to get this medication covered. They told me to apply for financial assistance with the company that my medication is from and guess what?!!! With prayer and persistence, my application for financial assistance was approved!! My medication is fully paid for and I have no co-payments!! What a blessing! Prayers were definitely answered! I had my first dose yesterday and I feel good about it! It's too early to tell if the medication is working so in a couple of weeks I will get my blood drawn to see if my lupus levels improved. I am so grateful for my doctor and his staff for working so hard to get this medication approved because they know it'll help me.
