[ I notice so much pain on my dash tonight. So many hurt feelings, so much loneliness, so much insecurity. I can’t pretend to have a magic answer or pill that makes it better, but I wanted to share a few little tips.

If you’re having a rough day, don’t reblog things that belittle you or your writing. Search positive tags to build yourself up. Try to have a whole day of uplifting reblogs instead of ones that tear you down. It’s a small change, but it helps a lot. Just one day.

If you’re insecure about being one of a group of a certain muse, don’t think of it in terms of blogs, but instead in terms of acting. Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Jay Gatsby, hell, even many superheroes have been played by different actors. Realize you are part of a tradition, not individuals competing for the one true voice, and that every one of you brings something new and engaging to the table.

If you are lonely, try reaching out to ten random people that you look up to or even just don’t know very well. Send them an ask with your favorite ice cream, color, and video game or whatever, and you’ll be surprised the conversations and probably even friendships that crop up.

The internet is a great place for connections, but it can also be very large and a little lonely if we let it. If anyone is having a particularly dark night, please reach out to me at least and we can talk through it. I keep my ask on anon for a reason, because I want there to be a place you can come in safety.
