The portal that Diana had been pulled into closes behind her in what appears to be a fairly modern gym set up in ancient Greece, with white marble weight plates stacked neatly in a corner and a redheaded teenager doing an obstacle corse with white marble fists pounding the ground violently, dressed in what appears to be stylized greek armor. A satyr stays off to the side seeming to time him with an hour glass. "Lift your knees, kid, come on! You ain't ever gonna beat that Amazon at this rate!"
"Nobody but Hermes could beat Tempest in a foot race, Phil!" The teen calls out while looking at the satyr, not the fist infront of him as it comes down, running directly into it with a loud crack ringing through the stone. The satyr facepalms and mumbles as he grabs a weirdly modern looking water bottle with the teens likeness on it and heads over to check on the kid, turning the obstacles off with a lever on his way over. Their pully machines seem almost as advanced in some spots as some of Batman's tech but without any actual modern tech to them
Diana lands with a grunt, and almost grumbles to herself as the portal closes. She then notices the teen working out, the satyr, the architecture, the modern machines and products, and their conversation. “Excuse me.” She said standing up. “Sorry, could you tell me where I am? I just had a magic mishap and don’t know where I am.” She admits. “And what’s this about an Amazon?”
"My own private island, between Crete and Thebes, where ya from, Sparta or something?" The satyr is immediately sassy and smart before turning around and his eyes widen, getting more serious. "Well I'll be... you're a true hero, aren't ya? Who trained you, kid?"
The redheaded kid stands up, dusting himself off while taking a sip from the waterborne. He waves, his smile similar to hers as he lowers the bottle. "Hi! I'm Hercules, this is my coach, Phil! Just someone I go to school with, Tempest, she's a transfer student from Themescara All Girls Academy originally but decided to stick around for graduation in just a couple months, she's been giving me a run for my drachmae the whole time but Phil says she doesn't have the heart of a true hero. Prometheus Academy is one of the few schools in all of Greece that accepts transfers from so far, so we share a lot of classes together"
“Themyscira actually.” Diana said giving Phil a soft smile. “My name is Diana, Princess of the Amazons.”
“Herakles?” Diana asked in surprise. “But then, why is there…no, definitely not in my universe then.” She said out loud talking to herself.
“Forgive me, there’s multiple worlds almost identical to this one, but slightly different in one way or another. I’m from one of those worlds.” She explained sheepishly. “But yes Phil, I’m a hero, one of the three best heroes of my world actually.”
"Oh, wow, really?" The teens eyes light up like lightning, full of energy and excitement.
"Sounds like more magic stuff, unfortunately that ain't my expertise. You could head into town with the kid, but uh... be warned, Herc here ain't got the wisdom his big sister Athena does. In fact, she and Ares are always fighting for the title of favorite sibling, since Athena won favorite child from Zeus," Phil chuckles.
"Hercules, not Herakles, I've actually never heard it said that way," Herc chuckles. "Woah, one of the best? That's how I wanna be! Dad says I'm already there because all the other heroes Phil has trained are dead but Tempest has been giving me a run for my money since we started at Prometheus Academy. She doesn't quite have the heart, though, keeps trying to charge locals for saves..." Herc frowns, furrowing his brows. "I still don't understand why, I mean the best heroes get brand deals," he holds up the water bottle. "My fiance Meg handles those for me, I'm no good at deals."
"Had he not been the reason for Wonder Boy being mortal we'd probably just ask his uncle to do it, but he's so jealous of his brother he took it out on Herc," a young woman, a bit older looking than Herc, says as she strolls over, scrolls in hand. "Speaking of, Herc, could you drop these off at the agora for me? The Spartan and Athenean national banks are once again in a pissing contest." The woman holds out the scrolls and Herc takes them gingerly, scooping up a satchel from one of the many fallen pedistals used as benches strewn across the landscape.
"Yeah, no problem, Meg. Wanna come with me to the stables, Diana?"
Diana started rubbing her temples. This earth was weird. “Brand deals don’t make a hero great.” She sighs. “What makes a hero great is the willingness to fight no matter what. Like the time I fought Medusa.” She explains. “I had to blind myself so that I wouldn’t turn to stone. Another thing that makes a hero great is standing up for something important. I fight for peace, one of the other top three heroes back home fights for justice, and the other is hope.”
“Stables?” She asked almost eagerly, she’s an animal lover through and through. “I’d love to!”
"He can believe whatever he wants, his heart is too big and his mind too small," Meg teases, kissing Herc's cheek. "I handle the brand deals anyways, just keeps the bills paid for us, his adoptive parents, and pays for everything that breaks when he runs into it."
"Yeah, kid gave up his only shot at being a god just to stay with Meg here so he's got what it takes, he's just... well, as smart as his father," Phil jumps out of the way of a random lightning strike and turns to the sky, "ha! You missed, old timer!" Another strike hits Phil and he wheezes out smoke, grumbling as he shakes off ash.
Hercules leads the way to the stables, which are a bit beat up with muddy hoof marks staining the walls and ceiling. Inside is an elegant white horse with a blue mane and tail, clearly flirting with another horse who seems entirely uninterested
Diana looks at the mess in the stables, and raises an eyebrow at the white horse. She walks past, notes the wings, and offers an apple to the other horse, petting her brown fur.
Pegasus, almost as intelligent as Herc though if one would ask Phil that's not saying much, and whinnies, flapping his wings indignantly.
"I told you making a racket wouldn't impress Princess, bud, you'd have better luck with that dumb feather dance," Herc teases the horse, patting his shoulder. "This is our new friend Diana, she's from another world, we're gonna show her around Greece."
The pegasus rolls his eyes and turns, kicking the stable door open and backing up, pushing Herc back, and sits on him.
"Oof! Oh, cmon, you know that won't get you out of it," Herc chuckles, clearly not taking the animals misbehavior too seriously, and picks him up like a large dog, standing up in the process, before putting him back down. "This is Pegasus, dad made him from clouds the day I was born, so we're the same age!" He wraps his arm around Pegasus's neck and gives him a decently tight side hug, the horse only mildly annoyed by this like a sibling might act
Diana laughs lightly. “In my world, there’s a breed of horses called Pegasus, Pegasi when there’s more than one, that have wings. I actually learned how to ride on the back of one. It’s nice to meet the original however.” She said offering Pegasus an apple.
“If you wish to fly let me know, I can fly alongside you two thanks to a blessing Lord Hermes gave me when I was born.” Diana said kindly.
"Aw man, Hermes never gives me anything cool," Herc pouts. "The last time he gave me anything at all, it was a cold from Persia... Meg told me to get over it. She's a little mean, but I like it," he chuckles.
Pegasus takes the apple, looking proud as he prances a bit. He trots out of the stables, only one set of tack hangs in the stables and it's more Meg's style than Herc's. Hercules follows and climbs on Pegasus. "We'll be dropping the documents off at a Hermes Express outpost, it's similar to his temples but specifically used for sorting mail, then we can stop at the cafeteria, my mortal dad should be dropping off fresh ingredients from the family farm, he and mom were able to hire farm hands and now he just does the supply runs, I used to help but I was really clumsy before I started training with Phil and always got in trouble for breaking things. But my strength and speed came in handy when the family mule twisted her ankle one day, we were halfway there and the poor girl tripped. Oh, but if mom's with him please don't ask about the family tapestry, she weaved it before I came into my strength so its pretty embarrassing," he rambles.
Pegasus spreads his wings and broadens his stance while seeming to smirk at Diana, challenging her to a race through the air
Diana smiles at Pegasus. “Give you a head start.” She said casually as she looked at her nails.
"Wha- WOAH, PEGASUS!" Herc almost falls off when Pegasus takes off but he manages to cling to the horse, regretting not making him wear tack for once.
"I don't think even Hermes has bothered to try and race that horse, anyone who gets challenged is usually too busy for it," Meg chuckles from behind Diana, walking towards a decently sized villa surrounded by old, crumbling statues of heroes Phil has trained and one brand new, pristine, even shiny statue of Herc. Polished to perfection with not even a drop of mud on the base. Phil's soft side showing through how he cares for Hercules' legacy as the best of the best here
Diana laughs as Pegasus takes off so suddenly.
“Well, to be fair, the gods are quite busy.” Diana says walking alongside Meg, letting Pegasus get a bit of a head start. “I was lucky to receive the blessings of so many when my mother molded me from clay. May I ask, has…Hercules…upset any of the gods, or made enemies of any of them?” She asked, hesitating over the pronunciation of Herc’s name.
"Could fool anyone in Greece with how they make time for eachother and their spats... Ares ans Athena are always picking fights with eachother and Herc is always caught in the middle..."
She shakes ger head, "no, not personally, though Hades and him butt heads professionally it usually works out just fine and when it doesn't Herc wins every time. Even... when he has no hope left..." Meg purses her lips.
"I had sworn off love when I made my deal with Hades years ago... Herc didn't do anything but be himself when I started falling... Aphrodite loves to tell our story but she always acts like she was right there pulling the strings but it's nearly impossible to miss when a god is around... now the muses, they were definitely around, got me singing and everything," Meg rolls her eyes
“It does my heart glad to hear you’ve found love again.” She says giving Meg a supportive hand on her shoulder.
She then looks up at Pegasus. “I think that’s enough of a head-start.” She says with a smirk as she starts to float gently upwards. She then shoots off and less than a minute later, she’s flying next to Pegasus.
"Thanks... it's been... healing... be warned, the boys are total nerds despite the jock appearance," Meg chuckles, watching her float. She's not very jealous of gods and demigods but she can't help but wonder sometimes.
Pagasus startles, almost bucks Herc but Herk manages to stay on. "Keep bucking and I'll start making you use tack, Pegasus! I can't fly without you!" Herc laughs, shaking his head. "He hates wearing tack, refuses to even wear a saddle blanket"
“Well, when you can fly as free as a bird, I can understand that.” Diana laughs as she pats Pegasus’s head.
She looks ahead and sees a massive cloud of smoke rising from Thebes. “That’s not good.” She says, grabbing the lasso clipped to her waist.
Herc reaches for the sword on his hip and the shield on his back. "Never is... I just hope it's a monster and not another of Ikarus's inventions gone terribly wrong trying to impress Cassandra, I'm not getting involved with his romantic delusions again, I learned that lesson last time. Besides, Ikarus doesn't listen to me very well, next time I'm asking Meg to talk some sense into him, he might listen to her better, I know I do." He and Pegasus swoop down to investigate, but he finds people trapped first and jumps off Pegasus, lifting the debris trapping them and helping them onto Pegasus for evacuation
Diana’s lasso glows and wraps around the debris, she then starts to move it away when she sees what’s attacking. “Cyclops!” She yells, she spins in the air, letting the debris gain momentum, and smacks the rampaging monster in the head with it.
"Again? Geeze, that's the third one this week... wonder where they keep coming from," Herc scratches his head. "If I could figure that out I could solve this problem at the source, but that's gonna take some investigating I'm not very good at," he sighs and runs over. "Oh well, not the time to worry about that now"
Diana flies out to another one and punches it in the face, making it stumble back. “Maybe tell Lord Poseidon to stop having kids with ocean spirits!” She suggested, flying to the neck of the cyclops she’s fighting, grabbing it with both arms, and slamming it down to the ground with a wrestling move.
"I... Definitely can't tell my uncle to stop dating... but I might be able to talk Eros into helping him settle down," Herc thinks aloud, losing his sword in the fight and begging to wrestle too. "You seem a lot more brash towards the gods than anyone here would ever be, but the gods talk like that to eachother plenty, you must be pretty familiar with the gods in your world"
“I’ve been on Olympus a few times.” Diana admits throwing her cyclops at another, knocking the two out. “And in the Underworld. Even helped Hephaestus out in his forge once or twice.”

Jason was back in Gotham, running the Red Hood gang, already injured Bruce enough to take some time off. He figured Dick or that replacement Robin would come after him, Alfred if he was especially unlucky. Or maybe Clark would show up, lecture him on the way to Arkham while carrying him like a misbehaving toddler. He was not expecting his favorite hero and basically aunt to be tearing through his men like dolls and busting through walls like it's Wipe Out. He reluctantly picks up one of his automatic guns, knowing it won't do him any good but not willing to look like a wimp after everything he's done. He was never one for prayer, but he finds himself silently praying in the moment that she goes easy on him, but knows deep down that only a miracle is going to make that happen given all he's done since getting back. He sighs before putting his helmet on, turning the monitor for the cameras off, and heading out to join the fight
Diana was just throwing the goons around like they’re dolls. Making sure they survive of course, Bruce’s city, Bruce’s rules. She spots one trying to run away and quickly lassos him. “Where is your leader?” She asked pulling the goon to her as the lasso started glowing. Once he was in front of her, she brought him to a kneeling position.
“He’s…he’s in his office!” The goon yelled reluctantly. “Probably grabbing a big ass gun to take you down for good you c**t!” He yelled, not noticing Red Hood entering the room.
There's a boom and suddenly Diana is covered in blood and grey matter and the goon is headless. "Out of all the heroes I will tolerate you calling that word, men, not a single one is a woman. But especially not the princess of Themescara. Do I make myself clear?" Hood asks while leaning against the railing just infront of his elevated office in the converted warehouse.
All of the men make it very clear they understand.
"Good. Now, injured parties go to the clinic, the rest of you go home before your insurance raises it's premiums. I will... handle this." He watches as his men start to make a break for it to get away from Diana. He knows that if she chooses to hit him he doesn't want his men seeing under the helmet right now
“So you’re the Red Hood.” Diana said wiping blood from her face and turning to look at him. “While I appreciate the respect, it will not be enough to convince me to leave. So I give you this option: surrender.” She said giving a disappointed glare. “Know this however, I am a warrior for peace. I will not fatally harm another being nor will I raise my hand in anger. But I will fight if I need to.”
"Yeah, I'm well aware," Hood sighs behind his mask, lowering his gun and taking his hand off the trigger, practicing proper gun safety. "But I'm also aware that Batman doesn't share everything he should, especially when he's in a bad mood like he was when I kicked his ass. See, I'm just doing what he can't and actually putting a stop to what the scum running this town have been doing. You think the Joker is going to stop someday when his whole goal is to get Batman's attention however the hell he can? That gangs are going to stop selling drugs to kids just because the law says so? I'm just meeting these villains on their level, with the same violence they use to make their points clear. My gang hasn't harmed the innocent of Gotham since I took over. If you still think I'm worth fighting then do me a solid and wait until the last bastard gets out, one hit and my helmet will be shattered and my eyes are gonna water, I don't want any rumors spreading that I cry like a by when hit, it'll ruin my whole image and I'll have to up the anti to get anyone to take me seriously around here. I doubt you want me to do that just as much as I don't want to"
“An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.” Diana said firmly, but she honored his request and waited for the last goon to limp out.
Right as the door closed behind him, Diana moved. She uncoiled her lasso and charged at the Red Hood. Almost moving faster than the eye can track.
Jason knows it won't do him any good but he still brings the gun uo to try and shoot her in self defense. Only for him to be rather painfully reminded that bullets bounce off her as it bounces back at his armored vest and bruise his ribs and he feels his helmet shatter against his face from her fist. His eyes sting and water, his nose already bleeding as his face shows through the huge hole now in the side of his helmet, looking almost exactly the way he did the day he died. Except for the noticeable white hairs at the front of his bangs, a clear sign of the Lazarus pit having been involved
A fist stops inches from his face. “Merciful Hera.” Diana muttered in surprise. “Jason? Is it really you?” She breathed, not daring to trust her eyes, but praying that she’s not being deceived.
"I didn't think I'd ever miss hearing my own name so badly," he mumbles, taking the helmet before his face swells too much. "Yes, it's really me. And before you ask, no, Bruce doesn't know. Not yet... part of my big plans is a dramatic reveal"
“How- why?” She started, but can’t seem to form a sentence. She then grabbed him, and pulled him into a hug. “Oh you sweet boy.” She whispered as she hugged him. “It does my heart good to see you.”
He does his best to hide the tears that start to fall as he hesitantly hugs back. "I doubted anyone would... Bruce already replaced me with that new Robin... and Joker is still running around... feels like nobody missed me at all," he can't help the growl that escapes him, his anger bubbling just below the surface
“Bruce didn’t want him.” Diana says softly. “Tim figured out who he and Dick are, and basically pestered them and Alfred until Bruce said yes.”
“And Bruce did try to kill the Joker.” She revealed. “But the Joker used some loopholes that would’ve made Bruce a wanted criminal. Namely diplomatic immunity.”
"He's the fucking adult, saying no to a kid migjt be annoying but if he really didn't want to replace me he would have kept to his initial answer! And diplomatic immunity doesn't cover everything, Joker should at the very least be behind actual bars, not running free terrorizing Gotham still!" Jason pulls away from the hug, standing straighter despite the tear stains on his face as it swells and bruises from her hit moments ago. "Besides... he never even investigated the murder he blamed me for before I died. He's not perfect, and he's not blameless. If he was even half as good at protecting this city as he thinks he is I wouldn't have died in another country, protecting a woman who sold me out to the Joker, because I never would have been there alone to begin with. He was my legal guardian and he was halfway across the world when I died." He pulls a pack of cigarettes from his pocket
“Kid was determined. He was there when the Flying Greysons died.” Diana said firmly. “He had pieced together the identities of Batman and Robin and there was a chance he’d reveal them. Bruce figured he might as well keep him close.”
“The trail had gone cold Jason. Bruce tried everything and he couldn’t solve it.” Diana said somberly. “And he wasn’t halfway across the world. He was a foot away from the door when the warehouse exploded.”
"I was at the door trying to break it down, Diana... I would have seen him if he were that close. Even with as badly as I was beaten and all the swelling... I could still see well enough out of one eye," Jason says as he pulls out a cigarette from the pack and a lighter, "he must have lied to you. Not shocking, he cares more about his image than he lets on." He puts the cigarette in his mouth and lights it, taking a long drag
“Clark doesn’t lie.” Diana said giving the cigarette a disapproving look. “He flew by a minute later and found Bruce struggling to lift the door off of himself, half delirious hoping there’d be a chance to still save you.” Diana said taking the lasso and wrapping it around her hand, to show she’s telling the truth.
He turns his head to blow the smoke away from her. "Clark has to lie to keep his identity secret, Diana, that's an oxymoron in literary circles," he mutters. "And lets face it, he and Bruce are best friends whether Bruce wants to call it that or not, Clark would totally lie for him. I don't put that boy scout on a pedestal like Dick does, he's not my favorite hero..." he doesn't admit out loud that she always has been, wouldn't do any good to disappoint her further. "I know Bruce sees my gang as a threat because I've been targeting him. But if it weren't for that he would put in as much effort as any other gang, only enough to solve a mystery like a murder and put the single person behind it away. Not a single thought about the bigger picture that gives rise to gangs like this. The systemic issues plaguing the city. Hell, he might even turn a blind eye since the only people I've been targeting are other criminals. Not exactly a high priority to stop inner gang conflicts when they don't harm the innocents. I stop other gangs from selling drugs to kids, I've killed more of the city's corrupt leaders than Harvey has. My guys don't even rob banks to pay for our weapons. Thalia Al Ghul is bank rolling this"
“That’s a…what’s the modern phrase? Red flag? That’s a red flag right there.” Diana said firmly. “While not as vicious as her father, Talia Al Ghul has proven she can’t be trusted.”
“Clark was holding the lasso when he told me, Bruce was as well.” Diana revealed. “Are you still going to accuse them of lying?”
“Bruce started the Jason Todd Foundation.” She added. “It helps kids living in the poorer parts of Gotham the tutors they need, and help the teenagers get scholarships. He’s also reached out to gangs and goons to help them get legitimate jobs at Wayne Industries so they no longer have to break the law to put food on the table.”
She whooshed over and plucked the cigarette from his hand and flicked it away. “Jason, you’re allowing your anger to blind you to all the things Bruce has done in the two years since you died. As both Bruce Wayne and Batman.” She finished gently as she put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey!" He tries to snatch it back but he's too slow for her. "Yeah, well..." he trails off, hanging his head. "I was always the angry Robin... that's all anyone remembers me as. Even the people who actually knew me chalked me up as Bruce's angry kid..." he deflates as he speaks, struggling to act so tough when she calls him out on it. "But I wasn't even half as bad as when Dick was my age... I didn't hospitalize nearly as many villains in my fights as he did..."
“I never thought you were the angry one.” She said, still holding the lasso. “I still remember the little boy who proudly wore the pajama’s with the Wonder Woman emblem on them to his first Christmas party with the League.” Okay, maybe it’s time to put the lasso away.
Jason blushes as bright red as his helmet, covering his face with his hands. "Oh my god... I wore those pjs to death, Alfred couldn't repair them anymore. Dick made fun of me for weeks until Bruce reminded him of how big a Superman fanboy he's always been"
Diana quickly put the lasso away. “Sorry.” She apologized genuinely. “At least none of your men heard that.”
“How’d you return Jason?” She asked curiously. “Uncle Hades isn’t known for allowing resurrections. Even for heroes.”
