HOMG it's over. This story is officially complete. I feel...liberated. It's taken me more than a year, but yeah, it's finally done.
Thank you ALL for supoorting me. Honestly I'm surprised I've shipped Amorra for so long. I'm normally a wanton person and don't ship anything longer than three to four months. The fact that I'm still diligently on the SS Amorra, EVEN THOUGH THAT SHIP HAS NO CHANCE OF EVER SAILING AGAIN, just goes to show what a great fandom/community Amorra is.
You guys are awesome.
Trivial sidenote: The only other longfic I've written, titled 'A Vampire' (featuring Vincent Valentine, another one of Steve Blum's main characters) has a three part story arc, and also ends with a chapter called 'Homecoming'. Guess I love the theme of going home.../shameless self promotion
Uh...yeah...sorry for the delay. I'm a poor time manager. Thank you for your faith in waiting, I love you all <33
Hey...I'm back in the fandom....
Uh....do people still remember me? lol it's been like three months or something since I last posted in this tag. Sorry, things got in the way.
Anyway, for anyone who still remembers this old Amorra fanfic called the Healing, it shall update next weekend, ie first week of August. Thanks for your patience, for those of you who still remember... :)
Also, did anything exciting happen? My dash has like 2000+ things on it so I'm not even going to bother scrolling down :/
OMFG why doesn't the link thing work on tumblr? Not even writing in HTML code allows me to put two links in one post...so you guys'll have to endure two different posts from me. Sorry :(
~~~~~~
Fanfic: The Healing
Summary: Post S1 finale. Amon survives the explosion. So too does the Equalist movement, with a new leader. Desperate to end the ongoing rebellion, Korra turns to the one person who may help her understand and stop the violence...Amon. Canon until the release of Book 2, Amorra content.
This chapter and the next were uploaded to FF at the same time because it was too long to post in one single chapter.
I'll have to say it was one of the toughest chapters I had to write, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.
The Healing: double updates this weekend :D
Hey guess what guys, I finally finished the majority of the rest of chapter 27, 'Soldiers of War'.
And boy it turned out so long (10k+ words and still counting >.<) that I think I should split it into three parts instead of the original two. I think I'm suffering from verbosity or something. I don't know, I'll let you guys be the judge of that.
But you'll get two chapter updates from me this weekend :D
Thanks for your patience!
There ya go folks. Sorry I couldn't get part 2 done in time, but here's part 1 as promised :)
PS: holy cow I have not been back on FF for sooooooo long. When did they change all the site fonts? Me no like the arial/calibri font they now use :(
Updates from 'The Healing'
Oh hey fandom. I realise it's been a long time since the promised update to chapter 27. Now I'm not going to bore you guys with excuses to my inactivity, but I will tell you this: I'm currently about 5k+ words into the chapter, and...the plot for this chapter finally begins to kick off.
If I were to finish the rest of this chapter, it would probably be around10k words. I can't guarantee I can have all that by the end of this week.
So I will promise you this: if I can't finish the whole chapter by the end of this week, I will upload the first half as a separate chapter, and continue with the second half.
Thanks for your patience!
Hi!! I am a big fan of your fanfic "the Healing" and i would like to ask your something especially to know you POV as the writer: Do you consider Noatak and Korra, after they made love to each other, to be in love? Are they going to confess it in some point or the actions of chapter 25 proved it? And what do you think attracts Korra in Noatak and vice versa? Of course i have my own headcanons but i wanted to know what was your opinion as the writer... Thank you!!!
Hi, glad you like the story :) As for your questions,
1. No, they are not in love. I think they like each other, care for each other deeply even, but they’re not in love. Nor do they love each other just yet. That’s something they’ll work out eventually, after maybe years together. And even then I doubt the two of them will ever confess their feelings, both preferring to show it through their actions rather than words.
2. I think Korra sees Noatak as a person who’s repentant. Even though every Avatar is different, at their cores they are compassionate people. She gave Amon a second chance and he proved he was human. He came back for her, when he could’ve remained in hiding forever. Of course the physical attraction’s still there, but I think what really draws her to Noatak is the fact that he can, and will, stand up for her.
3. I think there are two reasons why Noatak would find Korra attractive. One is that she’s the Avatar. He enjoys power; that part of him will never change. And having a relationship with the most powerful person on the planet is definitely not something he would scoff at. Secondly, he sees Korra as a loyal friend. He was forced to mature at a very young age because of his upbringing, so he never had the chance to actually be a kid. Korra was the first person to see past his Amon facade; she teases him and can get quite immature around him, which forces him to be less serious and brings out the kid in him. Plus having nice boobs can’t hurt ;)
Aaand that’s all my ramblings. Thanks for your interest! :)
Hi Thowra! I wanted to ask you when is the next update of the Healing? Do you know how many chapters are left? And one last weird question: did Amon cut his ponytail before he met Korra in chapter 25?
I will try and get the next update by April 14th, if not then the 21st. And there’s 2 more chapters left, 3 if the epilogue is counted as a chapter. So yeah, we’re almost done with the story, with luck I should be able to get the whole thing written before the release of book2. :)
Aaaand…no, Amon did not cut off his ponytail but I er, kind of forgot about it when I wrote their reunion in chapter 24…*goes off to fix chapter 24*
I feel so mature for making this….
Dear Rabbit
When he sleeps, he dreams. He dreams he is Noatak, the Water Tribe warrior. He dreams of the pounding rhythm of water on ice and the boundless grey skies. He dreams of the rugged mountains with their fences of blizzard and the endless snow fields.
And in his dreams he is a hunter, a lone wolf, running down his prey alone and tasting the hot run of their blood between his teeth.
But there is one that eludes him, one that he can never catch. Something more than hunger drives him to chase her. Perhaps it is a shiver of curiosity and intrigue, perhaps a whisper of forbidden promises that swirl in his head like flying flakes of snow. But he does not know which, and the figure ahead of him continues fleeing. It is the same every time, and he knows he will never catch her. Yet he is not worried, for he knows that one day when La comes to claim him, he will dream this for the last time. And in this one last time he will finally find her, and she will not be afraid. But when he wakes, he is Amon. He is the leader of a revolution, the champion of his people.
When he wakes he is the hunter, the alpha wolf. He runs with his pack close behind, relishing the fear of their enemies fleeing before them.
When he wakes he remembers nothing but a burning hunger for his prey.
Inspired by the song 'Dear Rabbit' by Young Heretics.
I dunno about the rest of the fandom, but I've always viewed the relationship between Amon and Noatak as a kind of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde relationship..
The Healing, Chapter 25
--->Chapter 25, The Healing<---
Wow. Just wow. After 8 months of writing, 89k words and 24 chapters Amon and Korra finally make love. I can't believe it took me this long to write them into this, but you know what? It was totally worth all the buildup. :D
The Healing Chpt 25 preview
I know I promised everyone to get it up this weekend, but one thing I did not account for was the fact that I should not dump chapters at a beta at the last minute and expect it to be proofread in a few days...I mean, I was scared of the whole love scene sounding like IKEA erotica that I got a beta to go over to make sure it sounded...y'know, erotic...and I think 6k words may be a bit too much to digest in 4 days. (NO, NOT ALL 6K WORDS ARE SEX)
My beta's been sent back the first half of the chapter, and the rest should come back to me this Friday. Meanwhile because I feel bad leaving you all hanging for so long here's the first 400 words or so:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘Stay,’ the Avatar said. Her fingers tightened around his hand; a possessive act. ‘Don’t go. Stay with me tonight.’
Noatak was at a loss. He thought he knew what she hinted at but he could not be certain, and out of fear of shattering her fragile trust again he dared not make a move. For several seconds he gazed around the room uncertainly, at the smooth stone walls and the enormous table of gifts, at anything but the Avatar. Then his eyes strayed and he was transfixed, in the way her eyes gazed back at him and reflected the dancing flames of the two candles nearby. Reason left him.
‘I will,’ he promised, turning over his hand to give her fingers a strong squeeze.
She nodded and sank back into the pillow.
Even then, indecision froze him. He could not stand here forever – at least not the whole night – but neither could he slink into her bed. Finally he compromised; not standing nor sleeping, instead drawing up a chair to sit next to her. At this, her mouth twitched with laughter.
‘Something funny?’ he said, painfully aware of the silence in the room.
‘Yes. You.’
Noatak crossed his arms and said nothing.
The candles burned lower.
‘Are you going to sit like that the whole night?’ she asked. ‘Well, have fun.’
‘It was your idea to begin with, Avatar.’
She smiled shyly and shifted over to the right, patting the empty space on the bed. ‘Here,’ she beckoned.
Wonder filled him. She wanted it. She wanted and needed him as no one had ever had before. And this feeling of need for him, of all people, sent rippling anticipation throughout his entire body. He reached for her and she did not move. When the tips of his fingers stroked past her cheekbones, she slipped a little further down the bed and turned her face, nuzzling the inside of his wrist. The brush of her lips, firm, supple, sparked his pulse in electrifying waves. He stood and kicked back the chair, not even flinching as it skidded across the floor. Her eyes burned into his back as he turned around, sat on the bed and bent down to remove his shoes with ceremonial slowness.
She lifted aside the sheets for him as he stood up barefooted. The plain, baggy hospital gown she wore hid her curves but her open invite still took his breath away. He climbed in and stretched out beside her cautiously, tensed for rebuff but there came none. The space was still warm with her scent; he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, letting her presence invade her mind.
Noatak and Korra, waking up (not yet) in bed together :3
This was inspired by a little sketch I saw on tumblr a while back - I think the artist's name was Vaughn? I can't remember too well, and sadly I never saved it anywhere nor reblogged it (note to self: WHY???) but if you see the original artwork you'll see the connection.
This is also a little scene that takes place in chapter 25 of the Healing (to be released this weekend).
