Now that we have a new layer with the selected districts, we can hide the original layer and start working to cut other layers to keep only the information relative to the selected areas.
1. I will start by changing the symbology of the layer. I want only the border to be highlighted, as I need the layer to be transparent over other layers.
2. I will also create a buffer layer, because I want to keep information that it’s close to the border of the district. To do that, I will use a geoprocessing tool (vector menu) called Buffer... The input layer will be our new district layer, while I want to change the distance to 50m before running the tool.
3. The symbology of the resulting layer will be random, so we will need to change this as well.
4. Don’t forget to save the new layer with the buffer.
