I found this on a post.
Take action! THE NEW VOTE IS MONDAY MAY 4 at 4:00 p.m. We will all be there!
The location has moved to accommodate the expected crowd:
📍 Box Elder County Fairgrounds — Fine Arts Building 320 North 1000 West, Tremonton, Utah 84337
We delayed it! Please write in or show up!
TODAY, Monday April 27, 80 people filled the Box Elder County Courthouse at 10 am to oppose the Box Elder County "Stratos" data center project.
Commissioners — who said they learned about this project only weeks ago — delayed the vote one week.
That's you. This is what showing up, calling and emailing does!
The public had only 3 DAYS notice on this.
We're making up for that NOW.
The public is quietly being expected to give:
-80% of all property tax revenue back to the developer
-Personal property taxes on equipment are eliminated entirely
-The standard energy use tax has been cut from 6% to 0.5% — a 92% reduction
So far there's been:
-no published water study
-no hydrological analysis
-no independent review of any kind
-No publicly available analysis of the environmental harm
-No biological surveys
What we're up against:
On the same day commissioners delayed the vote, developer Kevin O'Leary appeared on Fox News and said: "I met with them only 5 months ago and they said we can do it in Utah" —
Naming Governor Cox, Speaker Schultz, and Senate President Adams as the team that initiated this deal.
Not Box Elder County.
Commissioners were LAST to know, exactly as they said.
This project sits 2 miles from Locomotive Springs and Gunnison Bay —
Audubon Globally Important Bird Areas on the north shore of the Great Salt Lake - hosting thousands of migratory birds from around the world.
These are not just local resources.
They belong to the entire hemisphere.
WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW:
1. SHOW UP Monday May 4. Box Elder County Fairgrounds, Fine Arts Building, 320 N 1000 W, Tremonton, Utah. 4:00 p.m. Bring a sign. Bring a neighbor.
2. EMAIL COMMISSIONERS today:
Boyd Bingham: [email protected]
Lee Perry: [email protected]
Tyler Vincent: [email protected] Phone: 435-734-3347
EMAIL TEXT:
The Great Salt Lake cannot afford another unreviewed industrial water demand. Please require an independent water analysis and impacts review before voting on the Stratos Project.
3. SHARE. Forward this to everyone you know in Box Elder County and beyond.
Commissioners are reportedly opposed but under pressure from the state.
ONE WEEK is enough time to make that pressure impossible to ignore — if enough people show up and speak out.
Thank you!
