Been thinking a bit about this time in my life and where I'll see it in 5, 10 years time. It's a blessing, and when I look at these photos I feel content, my days are as filled as I make them, I live in a beautiful place, I have people who I love I'm surrounded by. Backyard bbq's, surfs, mini ramp sessions, low hanging tangible light, who gifted me these days

Florence Shimizu -8/15/1932- 9/8/2025

I'm having trouble processing or what I feel is properly grieving the passing of my grandma, I feel like I can't give her passing the emotional attention it deserves, but maybe that's fitting. I feel like our family dynamic loved and focused on our grandpa, and she was always seen in partnership with him. I feel guilty for lumping their passings together, but barely 6 months between, I have a hard time separating the two. But maybe that's trying too hard, people can be appreciated together without devaluing the individual. Maybe all this just needs time.

Still not sure how I feel about living here, even a year on, still feels like I'm house sitting. In the grand scheme of things, I am in a way. Who knows how long this will last for, but the way the light bends along the gable ends is enough to make me thankful.

Montana bike packing pt II.

Interesting to spend a few days back on the bike. Familiar sensations, a little more smoothed out but still great highs and deep lows.

Cam and Isa's wedding, only fitting that I rushed off to catch a flight for a bike trip the next morning. Rooming with Andy felt like old times. There's people you meet and you know that you're going to be friends with, then there's people you meet and you know you want them to be a part of your life. Blessed that I'm still taking some positives from my racing days.

Franklin Hikoo Shimizu- 5/23/1931- 2/14/2025

"Franklin “Bubba” Shimizu, M.D. of Woodland Hills Ca, born Hikoo Shimizu, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb 14, 2025 aged 93. Beloved husband of 68 years to Florence Shimizu, loving father of Cat, Robert, Paul, David, Maria and Luke, grandfather to Frankie, Danielle and Andrew. Franklin, a native of Oahu Hawaii, was doctor of Radiology for over 30 years at St Vincent Medical Center, graduate of University of Michigan Medical School class of 1963, and a U.S Army veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for heroic actions in the Korean War. An avid painter, photographer, bookworm, gardener, and loving father to all his furry friends, Franklin led a life of hard work and unbridled compassion, the effects of which are reflected in everyone he interacted with." 

Longest most gentle let down of a passing one could ever hope for. Still at a loss for words, but appreciation none the less
