Just a note and an apology for my absence! I have been in the mines (handling family affairs + work) so I haven't had much time to check Tumblr or Discord! I'm honestly too anxious about what I missed to even check Discord right now so... I'm just going to try to reply to everything I owe! If you have anything you'd like to tell me, you can reach out through IMs for now. Thank you!
lana is the most important person in her world, even over lord sigurd or even her long departed twin sister.
so it should be no surprise that, the moment edain spots lana join the ballroom floor dressed up to the nines, she immediately rushes in for a crushing hug.
âyou made it sweetheart!â she smiles warmly, wrapping her arms around her daughter and patting her back.
this was something she needed after the exchange with andreiâ it was shameful that she lost her temper like that even if he was in the wrong.Â
âiâm so happy my letter got to you in time.â she pulls back, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye as typical of a dramatic mother.
âhow do you like your dress? does it fit okay? is it comfortable?â her hands rest on lanaâs shoulders waiting for a response.
as lana takes her first steps out into the ballroom, she feels more like a spring lamb than a girlâmeek, unsure and a bit lost. this extravagance is nothing like she's experienced for herself before, and she feels so hopelessly out of place that she has to summon all her courage not to run back outside.
fortunately for her, that won't be an option, because the moment edain's eyes land on her, she's by her side. she squeaks a bit with surprise, but pulled into her mother's warm embrace, there's nothing to flee from, no one to fear. all at once, lana feels completely at ease, frazzled nerves forgotten. her mother has always had that effect on her. she feels tears well up in her eyes as she returns the hug, squeezing just as tightly.
â of course! you sounded so excited in the letter, so i knew i couldn't miss it, â Â she giggles at her mother's light-hearted theatrics as she takes her hands. Â Â â and goodness, you look radiant, mother. â
lana glances down at her own dress and smiles, unconvinced.   â w-well, it's a very beautiful dress⊠and it fits me just fine. but i don't know how suited i am for such pretty things. honestly, i feel a bit silly. do i look silly? â
[ FLOWER ARRANGEMENT ] - No matter how many flowers you gather, your bouquet wonât look its best unless you have the skill to make it so. A couple of students have taken upon itself to imbue their peers with the knowledge of flower language and the art of flower arrangement, and as a result the garden has become something of a workshop. â @aubins
Floriography is very serious business, as Lana has quickly learned. She's always loved plants and flowers especially, recalling afternoons spent toiling under the warmth of the sun as she busied herself in the nunnery's garden. Tending to plants isn't work suited for defeatistsâit's a long and arduous process getting the most fickle buds to blossoms, labor that callouses your hands and leaves dirt stains on your clothes. But the reward of watching the plants that you looked after with the love and care you would offer a child finally bloom to life makes it all worth it.
She'd say that, for all her many short-comings, she's fairly skilled at the practice. She's well-acquainted with the different sorts of plants that grow in this climate, which ones are safe to touch or eat and which ones are poisonous, but she's never heard of a language of flowers before.
Of course, she knows the meanings attached to some of themâred roses are a symbol of romance, while white lilies are to be brought to the mourning. (Of course, lilies have many purposes, so she won't think of it as an ill omen that they were the bouquet she was given.) But apparently, that's only scratching the surface. Even if she's a new attendee to the Officers Academy, she's managed to befriend a handful of girls from her house who have taken to showing her the ropes. How best to arrange the flowers according to color and size, as well as how to organize a bouquet to divulge your intentions without ever even opening your mouth.
In fact, it seems she's got quite an affinity for it! Who would have thought? So when other students begin to seek her out for her reputation of a burgeoning talent in flowers, Lana is naturally eager to help where she can. One of the first is a person she doesn't believe she's seen before, even in passing... They're beautiful, with hair the color of lavender and the easy smile of someone who acts more sure of themself than they actually are.
Lana's careful ministrations as she arranges the flowers according to the boy's tastes are interrupted when she catches their eyes wandering over to the corner of the room, where a similarly lovely purple-haired person that Lana has never seen before stands meekly. The way the boy's gaze keeps flitting over to her, and really, the very way they look at herâa sort of warmth and fondness captured behind their eyes that is impossible to fake... It's plain to see what's going on.
Even if she has no idea who the pair are, she finds herself endeared all the same. Lana's always been a bit of a hopeless romantic, after allâshe'll definitely be rooting for the two of them! Putting extra care to make sure the bouquet is arranged perfectly, she hands it back to the boy with a smile tinged with youthful mirth.
" Here. I think it would help to collect more tulips, perhaps? If you, um... want to get a certain meaning across. And you already have plenty, but I can give you one of my lilies, if you'd like. " She looks down for a moment, running her finger over the hem of her dress before she lifts her head back up to meet their eyes. " IâMy name is Lana, by the way. I hope we'll see each other more often. And, um... introduce me to your friend sometime! "
" The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it? " Cheeks dusted pink, the flush suffused right up to the tips of her ears, Lana smilesâshy, unsure. She's always been just good enough at managing her composure... Standing on the sidelines so as not to make a fool of herselfâwatching, always only watching... But this is her first time attending the Ethereal Ball and, silly though it may be, she can't help herself from wanting to make tonight memorable. Perhaps she won't manage to fully break out of her shell, but any step outside of her comfort zone is a step in the right direction, right? At least, that's what she tells herself...
She lets out a small breath, tilting her head up to gaze at the starry sky, clear of clouds. It really is so beautiful, as if the gods are putting on an entrancing show just for the attendees. Who knows? Maybe she'll ever see a shooting star tonight. Close to her chest, she holds memories of sitting beside her mother under a sky much like this one, hands clasped together as she whispers fervent prayersâlittle wishes for a shooting star to answer. Of course, she was so young back then... The hopes she would share with the stars are much different now.
She's interrupted from her own doldrums by a question pointed her way. " Oh, my f-flowers? " Looking down to what she carries in her hands, a bouquet of white lilies, no doubt lovingly handpicked, she laughs a little. " Of course. How silly of me to have forgotten already. Would you like to take one? "
ROSE â ORCHID â LILY â HYACINTH â TULIP
last updated may 19th, 2026 ...
Lana will be attending her very first ball at TOA this year! She starts off with LILIES as her bouquet. I can accept asks, both with or without context. If you do think of something, context is very much accepted and appreciated, but not necessary to send something in! Feel free to continue any asks I answer into threads.
For the most part, she'll be lingering in the garden or trying some of the food. It's unlikely she'll ask anyone she isn't familiar with to dance (that's development she needs to get before the next ball!) but she will accept anyone's invitation to dance, so long as they initiate. She's actually quite a good dancer, but very shy, so she might ask to do it in private, like in the garden.
Also, just a personal wish, but I think it would be interesting if a person or two tried to gossip with her! Lana dislikes gossip, but isn't quite confident enough to shut it down, so I think it could be fun.
And, of course, here is what Lana will be wearing!
Any other information will be added here as needed. Thank you and I look forward to writing!
