so lowkey been MIA but college classes got busy, I got ghosted by my only friend at college, and I've been lowkey going pro on Overwatch
anyway papa!toji, pregnant!xoverwhelmed!reader, baby!megumi
cw:none, they get nakey but its innocent (I pinky promise)
Megumi bouncing off the walls daily as expected from a toddler, life filled with excitement. Something you envied. Your due date was nearing, and every aspect of your body was aching. Work as demanding as ever.
You sat, eyes dreary as you cleaned up the aftermaths of dinner, Toji feeding Megs the last bits of broccoli he had been refusing.
Your shoulders slumped over the sink, rough hands washing each ish, mind endlessly working to just zone out. But you couldn't.
It felt like you didn't have the time. Baby girl was due in less than a month, and her nursery wasn't done. The laundry hadn't been folded. Groceries need to be picked up. Megumi needed a haircut. Work was still demanding every last draining bit of your sanity.
Your husband had noticed, of course, he did. Toji saw the light draining from you, his sweet wife. He could see the way your hair fell over your face, the face littered with anxiety and stress.
Toji stood, lifting Megumi out of his high chair. "Bath time, bud," he murmured, planning to get his son to bed as quickly as possible.
You turned your head, eyes following them down to the hall as they disappeared, turning back to see the mess made at the highchair and floor. A sigh escaped you, damp hand falling to your stomach as you let the tap run. Yet another mess to clean.
You listened to the distant sound of the bathtub run across the house, waddling over to wipe down the high chair, sweeping the floor. A cramp formed in your abdomen, yet another ache added to your body from the pains of your labor.
You adored your building family, so so much. But you were exhausted, you craved a break.
Then came the living room, back aching as you bent over, picking up each discarded toy from your son's day. Next was sweeping the kitchen. Then, organizing the messy entryway. Then was packing lunches for 'Ji and Megs for tomorrow.
You were laying out clothes for Megumi's day at daycare tomorrow when Toji came in, son in his arms.
"Mama.." he whined, sleep already dragging into his small eyes, clearly ready for bedtime. He reached out for you; Toji watched as you took him with ease, but lacking that joy that usually sparkled in your eyes.
Megumi was in his pajamas, a dark blue striped set.His hair fell across his face, making him even more of an identical copy of his father. Same dark eyes, same expression, same raven hair.
"Let's get you to bed, sweet boy," you cooed.
Toji leaned against the door as you tucked in your son, watching you whisper sweet words to the sleepy boy.
As you left the room, he notice you head straight back to cleaning. But he grabbed you.
"Hey," he murmured, tugging you against his chest, head falling forward into your neck, hands travelling to your swollen bump.
You hummed, not necessarily contentedly. "Gotta finish picking up, 'Ji."
"No," he murmured, voice rumbling against your skin. "You need rest, ma, not gonna let you run yourself into the ground."
You sighed. You knew that wasn't an option in your head. You had to get everything clean. It all had to be perfect for Toji. For Megumi. For the baby. What were you needed for if not to keep the house and family in order?
But before you could even think of protesting, he stopped you. "You hurtin'?"
You let out a breath, head falling back his shoulder with a nod, eyes fluttered shut.
"Yea? How 'bout a massage and bath, sweets. You've been doing too much when you're meant to be off your feet."
You couldn't resist, the idea of some temporary relief sounding like the best thing possible to your swollen body.
He moved you to the couch, pulling your feet into his lap as he sat down with a grunt. He pulled your socks off, watching your face melt as his rough fingers massaged your feet. "Talk to me, mama, I can tell your tired."
Emotions bubbled under the surface of your skin, this feeling like the first moment you've had to breathe.
"Work sucks...boss keeps assigning me shit I have to get done before I go leave for the baby...it's too much. I'm just drained...I come home tired and miserable-ow- scared I'm doing bad for 'gumi."
You were tearing up. You weren't sure why. Maybe hormones? Maybe stress?
Maybe you were just overwhelmed.
Tears welled but had yet to fall, sniffles filling the once quiet room.
Toji paused his fingers, eyes glancing up to meet yours. "Don't. Megs loves you. I love you. You are a great mother, you are just tired." He switched feet, making you wince as he worked at the sorness from hard days and pregnancy.
You sniffled. "I just-...guess I am just tired." You attempted to swallow back down the tears, but they just spilled over, too much to hold back anymore.
"Deep breaths, ok? I'm here. I know your tired, just let it out."
You nodded, regulating yourself. Breathing settled, eyes slightly red and glistening with falled tears. You tasted salt but ignored it.
It wasn't long before you felt the slight relief of weight being lifted from you, just needing to let it out for who knows how long.
Life just kept piling up, and you hadn't gotten to just take it all in. You hadn't had a moment to just express emotion.
He hummed, continuing his movements with soft silence filling the space between you two. His palms worked on your lower calves, hisses escaping your lips as he worked at just one of the aches that had been bothering you.
Your hands rested on your belly, pushing up your shirt. Your hands laid across the stretchmarked skin, Toji's eyes following.
"How's my baby girl been treating you today?"
"She's been quiet... kicked me a bit when she wanted lunch...been hitting on my bladder."
Toji smirked slightly, hand reaching over to poke your tummy. It was his shy way of affection that he wasn't sure how to express. "Let's get you bathed and in bed, mama."
Toji filled the tub, helping you out of your pants, seeing that you couldn't get them off your ankles correctly. The action was the opposite of sexual, rather careful and loving. Purely to make you feel better, to make you feel loved. The water was warm, filled with that lavender bath salt that your husband knew calmed you. Toji himself undressed, his hands helping you gently lower yourself into the tub.
You settled, body resting against the firmness of your husband. Eyes were shut but from pure relaxation as he washed your hair for what felt like the first time this week. Rough hands that only found softness for you and your children. Soap lathered, relaxation melting into your bones.
You two didn't speak. You just let him wash you. You let him take care of you. Because you took care of him and Megumi every day and never let yourself feel human. And Toji wouldn't allow that.
It didn't take away the pains of your week. The aches of pregnancy. The stress of life. But rather it subsided it. It leveled you.
It reminded you that you were loved, needed, wanted.
In the most gentle and softest way.
uh lowkey sucks dong but whateverrrrrrrrr
