Hi! I watched Rurouni Kenshin as a kid too and it wasn't until I saw the recent live action movies and Shin Kyoto Hen OVA when I fell into AM hell. For fanfics, I'd stick to fanfiction.net. There are years worth of stories you can catch up on. For AM stories, I'd recommend anything by Shin Sankai, Ms Western Ink, Istoria, Desi or dementedchris. Another author I love is Hikaru aka catadamon who deleted her fanfiction account but is uploading stories on ao3.

Nobuhiro Watsuki was asked at a con if Aoshi and Misao got together and he said yes they got married. I don't know if they stayed at the Aoiya but probably.

About the HunterxHunter kareshi (boyfriend) doujinshi, it looks like this inside:
