RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
-- Zulu, 28, she/her.
-- I don’t follow for follow. I may not follow you back immediately. I am either not around, I still have to read your rules, or I’m scoping you out to see if our writing styles and characters will mesh.
-- I am mutuals only for all ic engagements (threads, asks, etc). This isn’t personal; this is my escape from the daily grind and I need to keep my activity and social circles at a manageable level, else it becomes more work than a fun hobby.
-- I don’t do greeters, but I’ll periodically post starter calls and, more rarely, open starters. You’re welcome to grab one of those, send me a meme (they’re such great icebreakers), or just bust into my IMs like the Kool-Aid man with your ideas.
-- I don’t generally follow back or interact ic with personal blogs. I’d prefer to keep my engagements within the RPC. If you are a non-rp blog, do not reblog my headcanons, threads, or other character-related content. You will be blocked.
BASIC ROEs
-- Blog policing is gross. Just unfollow and go about your day if you don’t like someone’s content or their ships don’t float your boat. If you engage in purity politics/doxxing/witch-hunting/cancel and callout culture/other toxic nonsense or you are slamming x ship or y plot on the dash, do not follow me with the hopes of having it returned. I will take my own advice, and you will be unfollowed. I’m here to write, not to join the mob you’re trying to rally.
-- Save the drama. I’m always here to lend an ear, but if you’re going to come to me with complaints about someone, you’d better come with the receipts. I’ve been the victim of people with no critical thinking skills believing absolute horseshit someone has said about me behind my back before. I’m not going to be like them, and hate someone I’ve never met just because you’re potentially giving me half of a story or twisting somebody’s words so you can feel morally superior. I’m not here for this high school bullshit. You not liking someone’s ships or personal feelings on life, provided they are not some kind of bigoted shitbag, is a you problem. Just. Fucking. Unfollow.
-- The old RP standards: don’t metagame, godmod, powerplay; don’t reblog threads you aren’t part of, and help me cut posts.
-- Don’t reblog my headcanons or art unless they directly pertain to both our muses.
-- Don’t use me as a meme/content source. Please reblog things from the actual source unless they have deactivated.
-- I do not expect reblog karma.
-- Don’t be a shitweasel and send me anon hate. I’ll just delete it, because if you’re so afraid to send a thing that you won’t even send it under your internet alias, you are unworthy and I don’t entertain oxygen thieves.
-- I VALUE COMMUNICATION. I understand and appreciate that there is another human behind the faces of other muses, and I want to get to know you. I also want to know your feelings on our threads, even if that includes wanting to drop or back-burner them. That’s just part of the creative process.
On the flip side, I also value directness from you -- do not vague or bait me, whether it’s about writing or real life. I’m not going to pry or play pity games. I’m here to listen and chat if you need an ear or some lovin’; all you need to do is ask.
-- I have a drop timer of three months. I track all threads with rpthreadtracker. If one goes untouched for this time, I will archive or delete it. This does not apply if you communicate with me about it, post a general notice of hiatus/other circumstances, or there is a complete cessation of activity on your blog like some shit happened irl. Please do not take this to mean I expect this turnaround from you -- I only ask that you communicate either directly or in general.
-- If it is getting to be a while and I haven’t responded, I may have missed something. I’m usually pretty good about throwing a general notice out if I’m jammed up or busy, but don’t hesitate to reach out if I haven’t done so and it’s been a while.
-- Feel free to specify a verse/timeline/muse if you like a starter call or send a meme. You don’t have to, and if you don’t it’ll be either whatever seems most appropriate, or random.
WRITING PREFERENCES
-- I’m adaptable as far as length and detail. I tend to favor long/multi-para responses, but please don’t feel you have to match me. Sometimes you can do more with less words. No worries.
-- Favorite plots: action, angst, dark shit, putting muses in situations that test them/force character development. A bit of tomfoolery and cuteness to cleanse the palate on occasion.
-- Please continue off asks in a new text post. It just...sucks less, on both ends.
-- Formatting will be minimal. I’m lazy. Do whatever floats your boat. I probably won’t interact with you if yours makes your writing impossible to read, but let your freak flag fly, baby.
THE MUSES
-- Flexible headcanons and backstory. I treat most of my interactions as completely separate AUs, and to accommodate duplicate canons, I will work with you to establish relevant hcs/background info that does not conflict with yours. This especially applies to RE5 canon muses. In this house, we don’t bend canon around my OCs unless we’ve plotted some divergent shenanigans.
I LOVE the variety I get in playing with duplicates, so please don’t feel like I don’t want to interact with you if you see me writing with three of your muse already.
-- My muse will not kill or seriously injure your muse if it is not plotted.
-- Mind the separation between ic and ooc. All of this is FICTIONAL, and non-canon to boot, so don’t get the idea that just because my muse does something, I personally support it.
-- Pre-established relationships? Your character knowing who mine is? I might be extremely cool with it. Let’s plot. Don’t assume, however, if we haven’t plotted it.
-- I have MUCH more information on the muses than is in their character sheets. Most of it will come out as needed in plotting, but if you have questions, just ask. I didn’t want to put a whole wall o’ text as a bio.
-- ON SHIPPING: don’t try and force ship. I don’t frequently ship, but when I do, I do the multiship/multiverse thing. There will be zero shenanigans involving underage Hawk (Hawklet?); she is 16 in her RE2 timeline and that is not a universal age of consent.
I also recognize that you asking to ship and your character flirting are two entirely different things, but know that mine will respond ic to the latter.
CONTENT
-- I will not tailor my blog’s content to your preferences. If, in your rules, you specify what blogs you yourself have decided to follow may and may not post or must tag, it is highly unlikely that I will follow you or follow you back, because that is awfully freakin’ bold of you to expect a stranger to cater to you because you decided to follow them. You are responsible for shaping your experience here, not others.
Likewise, I do not expect you to tag anything other than what you normally would, if anything at all. Tag your shit how you want to. If I don’t like it, that’s my problem, not yours.
-- Understand that there will be dark themes explored here and anything common in horror/sci-fi genres, most obviously the Resident Evil franchise itself, are fair game. I will tag broad and common triggers if their mention is detailed or they appear in imagery. These items will appear as follows: thing tw, thing cw. I tag things like excessive/detailed gore, sexual assault, suicidal mentions, and sometimes I will slap a general tw on stuff if I’m not sure how to classify it but it feels questionable. If you have questions about what I do or do not tag and how, you may IM me to ask.
By following me, you understand and accept these terms. Do not come to me and bitch, because you ought to have read these rules (not only is it common freaking courtesy, but it’s in my blog description) before you clicked follow. Following me is agreement. You don’t have to agree. You don’t have to follow me. Make your experience what you want; it is not up to me what YOU do.
-- I do not write explicit smut, but anything pushing it as well as headcanons or other material with sexual themes will be tagged nsfw. (including the period).
BLOCKS AND UNFOLLOWS
-- I periodically clean out inactives (~6 months or more), but if you come back from the dead and re-establish contact, gimme a poke and I’ll gladly follow you back.
-- I will always blacklist tags before unfollowing, but I may unfollow for an extreme excess of ooc, in particular political posts (if you want to post it, post it! It belongs on your blog if you want it there), or tons of really long uncut posts. If I’m finding myself repeatedly needing to scroll for 8 years to pass your posts, I’ll probably unfollow just to keep my dash clean. Untagged NSFW (mostly images) is a common one too. Again, tag (or don’t) how you wanna.
-- I’m not here for drama, again. Take it elsewhere. Don’t come to me to rage about people who like different characters or ships than you do. Folks are allowed to have different tastes. We are all writing fiction. You might rather put your energy into writing rant posts and callouts, but I like efficiency. The unfollow button’s one click. See ya.
Thanks for reading! I know it’s a lot, but I’ve been around the RPC for a minute and have too many stories of people here on ye olde internet acting like fools.
