There seems to be a trend that Iâve began seeing on Tumblr lately.
Alarmingly, Iâve been seeing people giving out false information, and itâs quite scary to see especially since there are younger and new witches out there who need factually correct information. Iâd never name names, but itâs just very disappointing to see such a thing.
Do your own research, guys. Read as many books as you can. Youâre better off learning things yourself than relying on another person. A UPG is not always reliable, no matter how experienced a person claims to be.
As someone who has spent almost over a decade undergoing esoteric research, the best skill an occultist can have is the ability to research on their own. Once you have sufficient knowledge on the basics of spirituality, you will find it easier to use your intuition to see which information resonates with you and which one doesnât. At that point, you will be able to discover new things on your own and contribute to the spiritual community without the possibility of doubt!Â

tom riddle was a genius and resourceful wizard my ass
that boy decided to split his soul seven times in order to achieve immortality and instead of using unexpected things like knuts or a piece of parchment or a really sturdy quill he uses irreplaceable magical artifact and heirlooms and two living things. why send your piece of soul to a bank in gringotts as a sickle that nobody has the patience to find when you can send the Cup of Fucking Hufflepuff there instead afterall.
The thing is that we donât know how a horcrux is made â it is entirely possible that the witch or wizard has to have some emotional or sentimental link to the thing that would become the horcrux. Given the importance of emotions in magic within Harry Potter, it is not a crazy suggestion. This could be why nothing is chosen from Gryffindor, the Hogwarts tie is strong enough for the diadem and the cup, but the negative association with Gryffindor means that nothing from Gryffindor can be used â while something like the diary can, and the ring and locket are both tied via blood and the importance placed on his ancestry.Â
Maybe he couldnât use a random sickle or a grain of sand â unless it was his very first sickle, a la Scrooge McDuck and his lucky dime.Â
harryâs a horcrux though (and yeah there was different circumstances there but he technically was) and iâm pretty sure there wasnât much sentimentality there
(tom mcriddleâs lucky sickle)
No, but there was a deep connection. They were both related by blood (through the Peverells) and also through the prophecy, which created a strong emotional link, even if it wasnât a positive emotion. Fear and anger are both used to cast in the Harry Potter universe.
Ancient Greeks gods were exactly that: GODS.
People, friendly reminder that in Ancient Greece there was a difference (sometimes a huge one) between the portrayal of gods in Mythology and their image in cult.
I suggest reading Platoâs Cratylus where the etymology of the gods names is analyzed. For example, Socrates argues how people fear of Persephone and Hades is absurd because they are kind and wise. There is also a book by Jennifer Larson called âAncient Greek Cults: a guideâ which explores the religious cult received by the gods in Ancient Greece and how their image is pretty different from popular myth stories.
The point is that I really encourage everyone to remember that for Ancient Greeks, Zeus, Hera, Hades, and everyone else were DEITIES, gods and goddesses, superior immortal beings. They WERE NOT just âcharactersâ from stories. They received religious cult, they were worshipped, they were loved by the Ancient Greeks.
Some myths had entertaining purposes but others were strictly religious and had to be read/understood in a symbollic level. So please, not because in myths we see Ancient Greek gods doing things that are full of human flaws, it means they were flawed beings. This was already criticized by the Ancients themselves, is not me saying it.Â
That is why I beg of you people: critical thinking when approaching Ancient Greek History and mythology. Donât go around saying âehh but zeus dick, apollo is a dickboi, hades so mean, athena sucksâ and all those stuff because they are not only disrespectful, but also inaccurate. I must add that many stories that people commonly believe to be âgreek mythâ are just vague and generalized summaries of actual myths that have very little to do with the real stuff. So if you wanna learn, donât stay with introduction manuals, go to the ancient sources themselves and think, explore and make questions.
Most witches donât believe in gods. t. They know that the gods exist, of course. They even deal with them occasionally. But they donât believe in them. They know them too well. It would be like believing in the postman.
Witches Abroad, Terry Pratchett
Men are so fucking concieted.
Men used to not give a single fuck that witch stood for women, but now that witchcraft is becoming ~cool and trendy~ and because we said ânoâ now they want to reclaim a word they spilt our blood on.
The word witch is stained with our blood, with the murder of women, girls and older women, for having knowledge about herbs and how they help us, for talking to animals, for knowing how to ease a woman through child birth.
We were burned at the stake, drowned, hanged, raped, starved for being âwitchesâ.
And, now, because we said itâs only for women and some people took trendy photos that look like witchcraft and slapped an Instagram filter on it, they want to claim the word witch too.
Lol fuck off
Men died in the witch hunts too. Hereâs a digitized version of over 600Â accused in just Scotland. The wikipedia page has more. Was their imbalance in genders? Yes.That does not undo or diminish the deaths of men executed as witches.
The problem is you keep saying itâs for women only and ignoring that. My fatherâs 58, you think he cares about whatâs âtrendy?â He doesnât. He doesnât even know tumblr exists. My great grandfather died in 1976 -- long before the idea of âwitch is only for womenâ came around. He called himself a witch until the day he died.
Also, donât throw the witches of the past under the bus by claiming that witches only helped people with herbs or eased childbirth. Isobel Gowdie, and Elspeth Reoch all confessed without torture and without being under duress, multiple times. Witches curse now, why wouldnât they curse then? The old grimoires are full of it.Â
Enyo, Goddess of War, Destroyer of Cities
The evidence thus far gathered for a relation between Ares and the Amazons may be stated. (1) Aeschylus mentions their habitual worship of this God while they were besieging Athens; (2) Plutarch represents Theseus at this time sacrificing to Phobus, son of Ares; (3) Pausanias describes the temple of Ares at Troezen as a trophy of the victory of Theseus over the Amazons; (4) in the association between Ares and Aphrodite in several places, in similar association between Ares and Enyo, and in the identification both of this Aphrodite and of Enyo with the Mother whom the Amazons worshipped, there are obscure indications of His belonging to the rites of the Mother; (5) there are fairly good reasons for holding that Ares was an early, or pre-Hellenic God. According to this evidence it is presumable that the connection between Ares and the Amazons was indirect rather than direct. A striking fact should be added. Wherever there were memorials of the Amazons in Greece- at Athens, Troezen, Megara and Chaeronea in Boeotia, Chalcis in Euboea, Thessaly- there are some indications in each canton that the cult of Ares was there in early times.

Greek Goddess ⢠Eris
Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned
Sing now, my muse, of the Goddess of Chaos, Arising from primeval Quantum foam born, Goddess of Entropy, Goddess of Anarchy, She who creates and destroys innumerable cosmos In the gap between dawn and the rise of the sun, She who dances between unseen fractal dimensions, In a small still place all enfolded in storm, Where tempests so huge, lighting rends open the quasars, So massive no light escapes from her shroud, She who sunders our soul from our sweet earthly flesh, And brings us rebirth with her ghastly sweet breath, Lover of Death and Lover of Life, She dances a dance on the edge of a knife, A gulf of ten thousand light years on each side, And She never misses one step in the dark, Singularity bound, in a teardrop of light, Cocooned in the smallest, suffused in the largest, Immortal Chaos wreathed with broken planets and dust, Thy name is Eris, world shattering Goddess, We ride your wave breathless and are towed under again. Singularity Goddess, you approach inverse zero, Still more drowned worlds loom in Thy billowing shroud. Asleep and awake she dreams our creation, The sound of a bell in an dark empty cavern, The scent of a rose in a room long abandoned, The dance of the motes in the eye of the Goddess, The touch of a breeze in the heat of the noon, The taste of wine from an ancient tomb offering She is there always, and not there ever, Look and you will miss her, Close your eyes and she is before you. Most terrible and most beautiful name of the Goddess, Eris!

Hail Eris, Lady of Discord At Aresâ side you scowl and leer As you ride by, your golden apple in hand Your sweet face is full of guile Everything is hidden in your smile You are lady of pranks, lady of jests You love to stir up, wind up, sneak up Yet you also encourage people to change To stir up their lives To see things in a different way To look at things askance, with increasing desire Jealousy can lead to Progress Envy to Wealth Longing to Transformation You are the lady of everything backwards Lady of the scribbled tongue She who distorts and obscures She who manipulates and goads Through your lens the jack-in-the-box explodes Spilling strife left and right You are far kinder when your touch is soft Your influence gentled by time Lady of Discord, we pray to you for a new point of view And opening to new visions

hey there, love your blog and writing <3 would you consider writing a devotional to hekate or eris? thank you and hope you have a lovely evening
Dauting Eris,
With wicked thoughts, and
Carrying gifts of golden apples;
Sweeping through battlefields, and
Taking refuge in mortal heartsâ
Take this fumigation, and
Accept my offerings,
That Your pleasure may fall upon me, but
Turn Your hateful eye to another now.
If possible could I have a devotional for Eris?
Dark-Tressed Goddess,
Wicked Eris with thoughts and claws like razors,
Who takes root in mortal hearts
Like weeds strangling out a garden,
With poison and thorns upon Your lips,
Kiss my enemies brow, and
Let them taste Your vitriol.
