A cheerful hummed tune fills the still air as the pillbug polishes his nail, head bowed low so that the four-eyed mask on his head seems to stare straight ahead. The assumption he’s too focused on his task to notice much else would be an easy one to make, but a foolish one at that.
He lifts his head when he hears another nearby, and carefully surveys his surroundings in hopes of determining just how far on the defense he should be.
“This is the furthest I’ve been yet, I would say.” Quirrel replies. “Though, I get the feeling there’s far more beneath our very feet.” His eyes squint in a smile. “But mysteries are a wonderful part of life, aren’t they? Always so exciting. At this rate I should likely take up a map from the cartographer up in Dirtmouth, but it’s a bit more fun to get a little lost.” He chuckles
I swear I havent forgotten about this blog. Starter call time

“I tend only to strike in self defense.” He replies, black eyes squinting in a smile in return. “Do you live all the way down here, or are you merely passing through like myself?” He pauses. “Feel free not to answer if you find the question invasive, I have a habit of not knowing where and when to curb my curiosity.”
"I'm from outside this place originally. I had heard the stories and came to see Hallownest for myself." Psyche explained, "However, I seem to have taken up a bit of a residence here. There is so much to explore here that I couldn't resist."
The spider chuckled softly, "Though, by the sounds of things, we are two of a kind."
“It does seem that way, doesn’t it?” He chuckles in turn. “But for that much I’m glad, it’s always nice to meet bugs that share my interests.”
“I too ventured from beyond the kingdom, though I find myself more knowledgeable on certain matters than I expected... I suppose it only adds to the appeal of it all, in the end. One more mystery to unravel. It does have a way of pulling bugs of our nature in.”
@the-worlds-the-limit
Ever-curious is the nature of the pillbug, living his life in an endless cycle of questions and discoveries. And with each beginning of a cycle comes a new place to see. And new friends to make.
He is, however, acutely aware of the presence of another. He pauses and taps his chin thoughtfully. “A fantastic place this is, isn’t it? So full of life and yet so dead... It’s got an air about it that draws wanderers in.”
“Oh, I understand.” Quirrel assures with a lighthearted chuckle. “I’m a rather curious bug, myself. I was just concerned about Ripple’s cough, but they assured me they’re well, so I’ve not wished to press the matter. Nevertheless it’s a pleasure to meet you, my name is Quirrel. And yours?”
“I should make my commission sheet and do replies,” I say, sitting down to play Hollow Knight instead,

Down, down, into the depths of Hallownest, it’s always an adventure for Quirrel. He’s come to expect the unexpected of the fallen kingdom in his time here and with the mask sitting atop his head providing both comfort and defense through trial after trial.
But some things cannot be prepared for. Such is the thought that crosses his mind when the glitter of bronze- or perhaps old gold- catches his eye amongst the garbage. Not one to shy from the peculiar, he skirts the water’s edge to approach and investigate.
Quirrel remains wary of the sleeping bug. The essence drifting off of them seems strangely familiar in a way that makes his head ache, but he can’t place why. “...Are you attempting to wake them?” He can’t say he understands what’s going on, but he’s trying to make sense of it.

I love love love writing Quirrel but sometimes it’s so hard because why do you have to talk so properly damn it-
@traveling-vessels-rp-blog
It was easy for Quirrel to say he’d met many more interesting figures in Hallownest than he had expected to. But with every journey comes little surprises, unexpected encounters, and secrets to be unearthed.
It’s an unexpected encounter that Quirrel gets today, seated on a bench and watching the still scenery. “Oh, hello. A fellow traveler, I presume?”
The three vessels looked curiously at this new stranger. The tallest, wearing a purple cloak with infection bubbles on their head, spoke up. "Yes, you could say that. Who are you?" The two others stood by, curious.
It surprises Quirrel to hear a Vessel speak after so much rumor that the beings are voiceless, but he’s unbothered by as much. The blights concern him more.
“My name is Quirrel... I traveled here from beyond Hallownest not too long ago, myself. It’s a pleasure to meet you three.”

His sense of another is not incorrect. He does have someone nearby. However, they don’t make a noise for a long time. When they do it’s a near-silent coughing fit, wheezing breaths. They’re not a talker. And for good reason.
The Vessel walks ahead with grace and poise, rubbing the bottom of their mask. Dust was uncomfortable. They have graceful, waving horns, and parts of their body shine white. They make no more sound.
The cough leaves Quirrel concerned. Though with most things he’s often quite careless, he does find himself concerned with the wellbeing of others often. Maybe more often than he would like, at times.
“...Pardon, are you alright?” He asks, expression laced with concern.

The spider paused. She wasn't being particularly sneaky, but seeing another soul down here in this hell of a place did put her on edge.
She carefully studied him for a moment. No Infection. Or at least none that she could see from this distance. Though, the pillbug was armed. Let's see what happens.
Psyche waved to the other, coming down the tunnel towards him.
"Greetings," Psyche called, "I didn't expect to find another living soul down here."
Quirrel allows himself to relax just a bit upon the other’s approach. Usually an open approach is a sign of no ill intent. Usually.
“This kingdom is full of surprises in that way, I would suppose.” He laughs a little and brings himself to stand. “Nevertheless it is a pleasure to see living bugs at any time, regardless of how few and far between. My name is Quirrel, may I ask yours?”
@dustingofthe-stars
It’s safe to say Quirrel meets all sorts of new people in his travels, whether that be entirely new places he can’t quite explain or places he’s traversed before and returned to. As always, now is no exception. But it’s to his understanding that the old Crossroads, even after so many years, have always been an area oft traversed by wanderers such as himself.
“Hello,” he greets the stranger, pausing to offer a wave of his hand and a nod. “Wonderful weather we’re having, hm?” Whether he’s joking there or not is anyone’s guess.
Spirals was wandering through Crossroads, dispatching attacking husks with ease. There was not much of a challenge here, so the mantis thought she could find a place to rest and consider her options. Her thoughts were interrupted by a greeting, turning her head to the voice.
She paused, listening. She noted that husks tend to attack first without saying anything, so she decided to give this bug a chance. “It’s quiet enough, yes,” she replied, tilting her head. “Are you a traveler?”
“That I am.” He replies with a cheerful tone in his voice, eyes squinting in a smile. He leans on his nail like it’s a cane, crossing one leg in front of the other. “I’ve been intent on exploring the entire kingdom before my travels call me elsewhere.”
He looks the mantis over and adjusts the mask atop his head. “You have a strong air about you, something common for the beings of Hallownest, I’ve noticed... would I be correct in assuming you some sort of traveling warrior?”
