Goat Island

Goat Island- Where do I start- so it is at Lake Martin, Alabama. Someone puts goats on an island owned by Alabama Power. People go there in boats, get out on the island, walk around in bare feet, feed and pet the goats, and get back in their boats and ride away. It is strange. There are rumors that in the past their have been donkeys on Goat Island. People also camp on Goat Island, though I know no one personally that has done this. I think Goat Island has been around awhile, meaning... it has had Goats before. It has gained popularity lately with people I know though. Maybe they have a new "crop" of goats. I don't know. It really isn't my thing. We've been there and done that. So there you go.

Pieology

Dinner at Pieology- everyone left hungry! Hey, at least we caught some Pomemons and hit a few Pokestops! I went to Pieology with my Mom and two kids. My mom and I split one pizza and my kids split another. I knew this was a mistake going into the deal. They have majorly fresh ingredients and will put anything you want on your pizza. You go through what is like a "Subway" fast food type line after picking thin crust wheat or white dough and get more or less a personal pizza. My personal opinion is not to let the toppings get out of hand. More is not necessarily better. They do serve salads, too. Although I'd been there before I did not notice they had a sort of breadstick and I certainly wish I had. It would have fixed some a sullen ten year old at our table.

Tacorita

I want to love Tacorita- really I do. I like that it is downtown. Downtown Auburn is fun these days. They've just had some aesthetic updates (their floors at least) inside the restaurant. Monday's have free kids' meals. (At least they did when I wrote this.) They use fresh ingredients. They have every kind of taco imaginable. So what's missing? I don't know! It is loud. I tried the fried advocado when we went in recently to grab a quick taco for my daughter. I am not judging the tacos from this visit because she ordered off-menu and got something very plain. The fried advocado was promising. The sauce was pretty good. It was kind of just thrown on the tray- and unfortunately I could taste the grease and that it fried other stuff too. Have been wondering if there is a way around that. I'm not sure. I think I'll pass on it in the future. Some of the tacos have been good in the past but somehow we've never left satisfied. One other pet peeve I've always had with restaurants that I've faced there every time is they spray and clean the tables around us every time. It is small, but I am sure there is a solution.
