why is there no kurdish scientists or mathematicians
there totally are. let me give you a list ā i excluded theologians, islamic scholars, and linguists because im sure youāre looking for actual physical scientists
al-dinawari: a polymath excelling in astronomy, agriculture, botany, metallurgy, geography, mathematics, and history (828 - 896 AD)
al-jazari: polymath, scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, craftsman, artist, mathematician (1136 - 1206)
azad bonni: neuroscientist, currently is the edison professor of neurobiology and chairman of the department of anatomy and neurobiology at washington university school of medicine (1963-)
bahram resƻl: medical chemist, CEO and founder of awamedical, associate professor at uppsala university, created the latanoprost which is a medication used to treat glaucoma which is the gradual loss of vision due to pressure against the optic nerve; also the head of the medicinal chemistry department of pharmacia ophthalmics in sweden. (1945-)
caucher birkar: mathematician who researches and teaches at the university of cambridge; received the leverhulme prize for his work in mathematics and statistics pertaining to algebraic geometry (1978-)
dlawer alaldeen: president of the middle east research institute, former minister of higher education and scientific research in southern kurdistan; professor of medicine at the university of nottingham; studied tropical medicine and trained in molecular biology; founded the molecular bacteriology and immunology group at nottingham university; founding director of the MSc course in clinical biology; deputy director of the center for infection at the health protection agency; director of research at the royal college of pathologists (2009); was a chairman or member of 9 boards (1960-)
fereidoun biglari: archaeologist and museum curator; co-founder and head of the paleolithic department at the national museum of iran; created a joint archaeological project called PACEA in bordeaux, france, that focuses on zagros and isfahan (1970-) « he uncovers kurdistanās ancient history!!
jamal nebez: studied islamic law, philosophy, theology, physics, and mathematics; he prepared a stenciled script on algebra and published the first ever physics book written entirely in kurdish (1933)
karim yassen: discovered the enzyme that causes gum diseasel works in the department of biology at salahuddin university (1976)
kendal nezan: nuclear physicist; president of the kurdish institute of paris; board member of the washingotn kurdish instituteĀ
mahmud bayazidi: polymath and one of the first activists of the usage of the kurdish language
massoud azarnoush: archaeologist; was director of ICAR (iranian center for archaeological research); published 5 books (1945-2008)
mulla effendi: astronomer, politician, imam, islamic philosopher, scholar; protected the christians of ainkawa from attacks by tribesmen; protected the iraqi royal family from being captured by the british during the anglo-iraqi war/coup dāĆ©tat; created two large libraries; settled disputes between kurdish tribesĀ (1863-1942)
nadir nadirov: academic and scientist from kazakhstan (well deported to kazakhstan); first VP of the engineering academy of kazakhstan; director of the neft science center; exposed the mass deportation of kurds done by the USSR; president of the association of kurds in kazakhstan (1932-)
rostam karim saeed: mathematician and professor; known for finding methods to solve system of volterra integral equations; exceptionally well in mathematics and chemistry; contributed and member of the editorial board of 19 international journals; a part of 11 committees - chairman of 5 (1964-)
tofy mussivand: medical engineer; invented the artificial cardiac pump- a device that pumps blood and breathes for the patient during heart surgery; professor of surgery and engineering at the university of ottawa and carleton university; chairman and director of the cardiovascular devices division at the university of ottawa heart institute; chairman and director of medical devices program program at both the univeristy of ottawa and carleton university; honorary member of the iranian academy of medical sciences; received his doctorate in medical engineering and medical sciences (1943-)
ziryab: musician, singer, oud player, composer, poet, teacher, polymath in astronomy, geography, meterology, botanics, cosmetics, culinary art, fashion; popularized seasonal clothes (light cloths during summer, heavy cloths during winter) and clothes for different occasions, deodorant, brushing teeth, washing your face in the morning, three course meals, seasonal meals, washing your hair in scented water, shaving in men, different hairstyles, etc. (789-857) āāā- speculated to be kurdish, with 16 sources backing it up.
those are just the famous ones and the ones that are openly kurdish. there are so many out there who are probably kurdish but are mislabeled or donāt even know it. thereās also all of us young kurds who are studying sciences and maths in college, like me!
